When I searched duck duck go image search for Fruit of the Loom, the cached image for their official website includes the cornucopia. When you click into it though it’s not there. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING!

I guess they are hiding… a… cornucopia?

“Having fun isn’t hard if you have a library card!”

I’ve been checking out so many good shows and movies from my local public library

ilinamorato,

The library feels like it should be illegal somehow. It’s SO GOOD.

anarchy79,
@anarchy79@lemmy.world avatar

I’m shocked they’re still legal.

bobs_monkey,

Give them time

ilinamorato,

There would be SUCH a revolt from authors if publishers tried to do something to legislate libraries away that I doubt any new books would be released for decades.

anarchy79, (edited )
@anarchy79@lemmy.world avatar

Oh no. Everyone knows The Party fears a revolt of academics and intellectuals more than anything. My man, they’re always the first ones to go.

“You can judge the degree of civilization by looking at who is imprisoned” / Dostojevskij

ilinamorato,

Who’s talking about imprisonment? I’m talking about another writer’s strike, leaving publishers with nothing to publish for months or years. With their margins already razor-thin, they have to know that they’d just be done if they tried any funny business.

Dkarma, in Why the hell did that stop

This is so the spyware can’t be disabled via battery removal

themeatbridge,

Also so that phones require more frequent replacement. Usually the battery goes first. It doesn’t hold a charge or undervolts and slows down the phone. They want you to buy a new phone every two years.

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In,

Usually the screen goes first after a drop. But that is also not easily repaired.

themeatbridge,

Yeah, but if you don’t drop it, the screen will last many years. Burn in hasn’t been a problem for a while.

On phone from 2013 I started to get burned pixels in around 2020-2021

“There removable, see all you need is 7 specialized tools!”

“We cant have users replacing there own batterys what if they puntchure or swallow the battery?”

“Making the battery removable would make the phone more bulky and limits innovation”

NaoPb, in Flight sim people are on another level

Pretty cool with the overhead and side panels.

Psythik,

Yeah but what percentage of them are actually functional? In MS Flight Sim half the buttons in the planes do nothing.

Donjuanme,

Half the buttons in a plane don’t do anything as long as everything is working. 90% of my numbers are made up on the spot

BaskinRobbins, in I wish sleep wasn't so appealing now.

This is how I felt until I played Valheim and BG3. I think my preferred genres have just shifted. I need something I can relax and play at my own pace. I use to only play competitive shooters, where I needed to be “on” the whole game. Now I can only play a shooter for about an hour before my mind starts to drift and I lose interest.

For me it’s less the attention span thing and more the lack of time

There’s a million things I gave to worry about all pulling me in every direction at the same time

Plus now that my ADHD is actually being addressed it’s way easier to find time for things

captain_aggravated, in We did it?
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

What a bizarre experience.

When I was in school…I’m pretty sure the state history cirriculum was designed to be America centric, and pro-America. Any nation a boomer would remember being at war with? Not in the history books, or they appear out of nowhere, do something pro-America, and then disappear again, like Russia did from 1939 to 1945. And both World and US history classes end at 1950 because 1. to the limp dicks that actually make the policy, “The fifties are practically now” and 2. we haven’t done much “being the good guys” since the jitterbug fell out of fashion.

So I’m not used to seeing something in a history textbook that isn’t from at least two of my lifetimes ago.

Scientician,

We had the same textbooks I see.

Confound4082,

We homeschool our kids, and are religious, but we are heavily opposed to Christian nationalism, and want our kids to learn what actually happened, not some whitewashed curriculum that downplays anyone particular people’s ideological downfalls.

We found a curriculum, but it took a while. One of the first ones I opened to read through had a first chapter titled “God’s gift to the world through America” noped right out of that one…

I love how, in this very thread, there are 3-4 pretty confident (and completely different) answers stating, without much doubt, its obvious purpose.

cocobean, in Where is spork?

Who is eating salad with a spoon

VonCesaw,

It’s for serving, not eating

Unless you’re in the midwest, where salads (nonlettuce) are eaten with dessert spoons

KnowledgeableNip,

But there’s already a serving spoon. Do we use both?

Too confusing, I’m gonna keep eating soup with my bare hands.

gamermanh,
@gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Serving spoon is for other things

Salad spoon is specifically for salads

Fuck you, that’s why
