Man your weed use is getting crippling and you should stop. Naaaaaahhhh *takes hit.

If you can still remember that advice, are you even smoking enough for it to be a problem?

I have a solution to our hygiene problems, everyone: poop hoses. Dropping a spooky dookie into a bowl of water is outdated and gross. We can just attach a poop hose to our bee hinds and wham! Hygiene.

No constitution, only what is moral…

Theocracy, then?

Scubus,

Lmao

Yep, stone the gays, super moral /s

Demdaru,

Juuuust to be the devil’s advocate buuuuuut… Morality is subjective. Thus, from perspective of person believing that homosexuals are the scourge of the earth and the absolute evil just lying in wait to jump on “normal” people, it is moral to remove said scourge from the earth.

Scubus,

No, I see the perspective. I just think it’s laughable to attempt to push religious moralism as any sort of modern moral allignment because religious morals are ridiculous. If you can’t quote the morals from the bible, you shouldn’t push for people following the morals from the bible. And if you can quote the morals from the bible, you wouldn’t be advocating for them.

Basically, anyone arguing that morals derive from religion is arguing in bad faith.

Demdaru,

And if you can quote the morals from the bible, you wouldn’t be advocating for them.

Okay, we wouldn’t advocate for them. If you believe that God is the source of all that’s good, and I mean really believe, you can easily be blinded by that and accept it as your own morality. Same with being raised with it.

Especially that, on surface, for example catholic morality is good. Killing is bad, stealing and being greedy is bad, being violent is bad, being false is bad…we pretty much agree to these things today. The deeper, more sinister things or things that are tied to God are the ones we ridicule today, like questioning God being bad or being homosexual or just different being bad.

jayrodtheoldbod, in toilet humour

I think you’re expecting some women to show up and argue with you like this is drive time FM radio with Wacky Bob the DJ but all you’re going to get is dudes trying to act like they won because they get mad at the word hygiene and piss on the seat when they leave just to spite you.

Yes, when they leave. They won’t put the lid down without a gun to their heads, but they’ll hold one last bit of tinkle just for you.

This joke needs a more appropriate venue, is what I’m saying . Nobody here actually cares about the subject.

thing is though, eating well and exercising shouldn’t really be a big deal, and people who make it such are kinda actively killing people…

it basically just boils down to glancing at nutrition labels for things you eat and if you notice it says 5 billion calories per 100g then maybe reconsider eating it, and not driving everywhere.

RQG,
@RQG@lemmy.world avatar

I always argued most people know how to live healthy. That doesn’t make doing so in our current lives any easier though.

Swedneck,
@Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

idk, i went from chugging coca cola and eating fast food almost every day, to only drinking sugar free soda with meals and most food being home cooked, and it honestly wasn’t that big of a change. Same thing goes for getting more exercise, most people can absolutely ditch the car most of the time and instead ride a bike.

I think it largely boils down to knowledge, people have completely wacky views on what is healthy and not, they never learned to cook for themselves, they don’t understand that a diet change has to be sustainable (crash diets don’t work and make you feel terrible), and they haven’t learned how to change habits like what you eat.

The upshot of it being a lack of knowledge is that we can just… inform people about it.
If home ed. and PE classes were improved kids wouldn’t grow up to view exercise as some miserable thing, they’d know how to cook tasty yet easy meals and thus have less reason to turn to junk food, and if we had information campaigns about the fact that electric bicycles exist we could get tons of people out of cars and onto bikes where they get some actual exercise and fresh air.

It’s the same as the Shopping Cart theory. There are a few analogous theories, but they’re all the same. If you don’t return your grocery cart, pick up your pet’s poop, or hold your trash till you find a disposal then you’re an asshole.

My crippled ass limps and canes my way to the nearest provided spot.

If I can do this with one leg that barely works, two bad knees, a bad back, and after a half hour+ of misery stumping around a grocery store, nobody not in a chair has an excuse. And it ain’t that hard to return a cart in a chair.

cashews_best_nut,

Returning trolleys was the norm in England during the 90s. I dunno what the fuck happened for everyone to suddenly start refusing to return them. Maybe the employment of trolley collectors made people lazy?

Winds me up though. I always return them and make sure to return any nearby ones.

Wrench, in Ramen

I visited some friends in Japan. On my way out, one gave me a couple premium looking bowls of instant Ramen.

I was like “oh hey, thanks, but that takes up a lot of space. I don’t have room in my luggage”

He just said “for airport” and it was all clear. I ate like a champ!

polle,

How did you get hot water at the airport?

trashgirlfriend,

Probably a convenience store at the airport?

Nasan,

Last time I passed through Taipei they had a water dispenser by the restrooms that had options for searing hot and “cold” water (it was lukewarm at best). I’d imagine Japan would have something similar.

Unforeseen,

Some of the premium ones are self heating so you just can add bottled water

MycelialMass,

Wtf for real? Why don’t we have those?

MxM111, in Slavery: still a thing

US constitution is not a moral or criminal or other type of code for all cases of light. It does not forbid, for example shoplifting or driving on red light.

ivanafterall,
@ivanafterall@kbin.social avatar

Damn, TIL. You just planned my weekend, thanks for the tip!

balderdash9, (edited )

You could have worded this better, and I’m not a legal expert, but I think you mean: the U.S. constitution doesn’t make claims about morality. It gives penalties for doing certain actions.

Sure, but that’s beside the point.

blackbelt352,

The only crime listed out in the constitution is treason.

The rest of it is explaining the roles and duties of the various branches of government, and the supremacy clause says that the Constitution, the federal legal code and any treaties are the Supreme laws of the land.

JeSuisUnHombre,

Amendments are part of the constitution, that is the reason they exist, to amend the document. Hence this meme referencing the 13th

blackbelt352,

The amendments aren’t like laws, there’s no punishments written in them however they’re directives to what the government can and can’t do. For example the 13th amendment restricts the use of slavery in US jurisdictions with the exception of punishment of crime.

Like I said the only crime listed in the Constitution is treason, everything else is about how the government is supposed to run and what limitations it has.

MxM111,
@MxM111@kbin.social avatar

So what’s the point?

I_Fart_Glitter,

Private citizens enslaving people is illegal because it is forbidden in the constitution. Only the government is allowed to enslave people now, as punishment for crime. “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

I have a QR code sewn into my backpack that takes you to the rick roll video. I love it.

user224, (edited )
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I have a QR code in my backpack with rickroll that works offline. It has the “Never gonna give you up” ~2 second cut compressed into 8kbps MP3 and embedded into base64 data tag so you can open it in web browser.
But there’s still a better way. OPUS can do as little as 6kbps and still sound better. Modern browsers should support it just as well.

And theoretically speaking, there’s something called codec2 which goes down to 700bps. Maybe the rickroll would still be recognizable with that. That could do ~22 seconds of audio inside a QR code.
Edit: Forget it. This is how music sounds with 700bps codec 2: auphonic.com/media/…/music-test_700bps.c2.wav
