Cool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, I won’t be fooled again.

It’s fine, the far right doesn’t believe in climate change and tankies can’t find their way out of their basement.

EmergMemeHologram,

That’s where math starts getting spicy though!

You gain a new appreciation for logarithms when you do statistics.

EmergMemeHologram,

It’s true.

Cos(x) is just the derivative of sin(x)

EmergMemeHologram,

I like a more traditional Asian taste, so crunchy peanut butter with mayonnaise melted into it to create a saucy texture.

EmergMemeHologram,

It’s basically pad Thai.

EmergMemeHologram,

I always thought the 12th day was Christmas

EmergMemeHologram,

Is that former Legate and saviour of Cardassia Damar?!

EmergMemeHologram,

A big part of quality of life is trying to make it good.

The stoics taught that you should focus on what you can control, and that still holds true. I can’t fix the world, I can try, but I can focus on searching for joy in my life.

So for 2024 don’t let the doomers keep you down, you need to put your own oxygen mask on first and try to find the things that will make you happier. Go camping, try a hobby, ask for a promotion you’ve been after.

Dont go full “hakuna matata”, deal with the important stuff you need to, but don’t forget about yourself.

EmergMemeHologram,

☹️

EmergMemeHologram,

Yeah, I love the messages and philosophy of Star Trek, but Rick Berman the guy who produced a whole generation of shows was allegedly piece of shit.

It doesn’t make Jean Luc Picard anything bad character, it just makes Rick Bernan a piece of shit.

I feel like critics have fallen into this hole too. Something comes out and they need a unique take on why it sucks to get views, when most people just watch it and enjoy it without criticisng the symbolism of the colour grading.

EmergMemeHologram,

Video game communities suck, and it makes playing them worse.

You play an FPS and everyone uses the meta gun at the time, then it gets nerfed and they use the new meta gun. Same with RTS and any other multiplayer game. Somehow StarCraft 1 pulled out a perfect rock paper scissors balance, but nothing else really has that so meta is what people do.

And because everyone is so busy grinding and min maxing, that’s what the game developers design for now, and it sucks the fun out of games because you just grind hours to get some new items to have the best items in the game.

Occasionally game communities are good. The Chivalry 2 subreddit had a bot that would use GPT to answer questions and then on every post go on about how the polehammer is the best weapon in the game, which was so over the top it made fun of the whole meta idea. The Breath of the Wild communities doing crazy rube Goldberg machines are always fun. And I’ll never not enjoy the weird hellscapes people create in the Sims.

EmergMemeHologram,

Here here.

I’ll be the first guy to in detail list all crappy things about macOS. But it’s my favourite OS, and I’m happy with it.

I don’t like the vapid criticisms that it’s a toy and can’t do anything from peine who’ve never tried it, and I agree with the criticisms that Apple charges way too much and is awful for gaming.

EmergMemeHologram,

I actually liked No Man’s Sky at launch, but I didn’t watch any of the pre release stuff.

I heard people talking about it and picked up a copy on my way home from work on release day. It was fun got boring fairly quickly.

EmergMemeHologram,

I just want occasional cat photos to roll into my feed, not to hear the virtues of a raw diet versus how crappy the one my vet told me to use!

This picture is so wrong and offensive!

Picard is captain, he wears four pips, not three. Honestly.

EmergMemeHologram,

They always are.

People need to adhere to “if you have nothing nice to say, it’s better to say nothing at all” if we want Lenny to succeed.

I wish I was better at my hobbies (I plan to invest more in them next year) so I could submit more content and help get communities rolling. I see you have posted a fair few things which I appreciate.

EmergMemeHologram,

Ruby is really cool, and it’s fun to write, I just find it difficult to follow because when I read Rails code there’s so much magic going on and the inheritance structure makes it hard to find things.

I relate to the philosophy of Python “explicit is better than implicit”, it’s my favourite language.

I’ve come around to liking JS, I like the ideas of its design despite the quirks.

EmergMemeHologram,

That’s nearly 1% of the total population.

EmergMemeHologram,

It’s called plenty of fish for a reason, you’re supposed to post pictures with fish.

EmergMemeHologram,

Look at this guy, with his friends!

I’m joking, but of my friends I’m the only one who brings a camera to stuff and takes pictures, and everybody groans when I do it. If I weren’t there there’d be no pictures, and there are no pictures of me because I’m behind the camera!

Most guys just don’t take pictures of each other.

EmergMemeHologram,

My wife’s circle of friends is much larger than my own, so this wouldn’t surprise me.

EmergMemeHologram,

Incel is a mindset, plenty of women will look past looks for people who make them laugh, or are interesting, or who do fun things with them.

When you show women 10000 photos and ask them to choose from them, yes they’ll go for looks, that’s all the signal they get.

My advice to incels is to find some fun hobbies, could be hiking or solitary things, as long as it makes you happy. When you’re happy, people will be drawn to you. If you focus on being butter and angry, people will sense that and avoid you.
