EnderMB,

I’d love to see him retaliate with a chart for her

[x] Stop being a cunt -> Stay Married

EnderMB,

If it’s a baby, then my man is going to be getting it non-stop.

EnderMB,

I see a lot of comments saying that people comment, but I’ll occasionally post videos when I see them come out, get zero responses, and will see the same video on Reddit with thousands of responses. These aren’t small communities either - the videos community on lemmy.world has thousands of subscribers, but few videos have any comments.

I don’t think it’s necessarily an issue with people not posting enough. I think there just aren’t enough people to sustain a social network with thousands of communities.

I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

EnderMB,

Maintaining the infrastructure needed for all the shite that modern cars are packed with, including the person cost of maintenance is not “pennies”. You don’t just spin up a EC2 instance and call it a day. You need infrastructure across multiple countries, service level agreements, people on-call to handle issues, account management with third-party downstream services, etc.

With that being said, you’ve already paid. You paid for the car, which costs an obscene amount already. If you own the car, you don’t need a separate payment for the software.

EnderMB,

Apart from the flag-shaggers and gammons that want someone to “tell it like it is”

EnderMB,

I used to be a mod at /r/soccer, and it was a great way for you to lose faith in humanity.

We saw it all, racism, death threats, insults, even an instance where one user found a mod’s place of work and stalked them. We also had one guy that was obsessed with a footballer spam the sub with bots for several days, because he wasn’t allowed to post whatever he liked. It took the admin’s three days to fix…

More often than not, it was people that didn’t read the rules, and got upset that all subs didn’t run on the idea that “if people upvote it, it’s allowed”.

EnderMB,

I haven’t written any Ruby for years, but I still praise it in every conversation I have regarding programming languages. It’s basically a much simpler Python, with some design ideas that are both beautiful and deeply strange.

EnderMB,

Just fling me into a wood chipper, and point it at the ground in a field somewhere.

Failing that, I’ve always loved the idea of being strapped to a rocket and launched into space.

If all else fails, I’d like my family to perform a (mostly) shot-for-shot remake of the funeral scene from GoW: Ragnarok.

EnderMB,

Of course, ideally it’d be Bear McCreary, but I’d settle for my wife learning to play it.

EnderMB,

Trying to learn how to play a Final Fantasy game in your late thirties is like trying to learn brain surgery on a worm. I don’t know how I had the patience for any of that shit back in the day.

EnderMB,

These will probably have a British/English slant to them.

  • Off Menu: Over 200 episodes, and two live tour runs, and it’s still a great and simple format. It’s hosted by comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster, who ask guests to pick their dream meal.
  • Second Tier: If, like me, you follow a football club outside of the Premier League, you’ll know just how hard it is to make a show about the Championship. While I don’t always agree with them, they’re trying their best, and have managed to consistently put out content that tries to cover every team.
  • Fozcast (The Ben Foster Podcast): Great to listen to if you’re a football fan, as Ben puts out a lot of amazing insight into the world of football.
  • The Happy Hour Podcast: I’ve no idea who JaackMaate is, but he puts out a solid podcast with some great guests.
EnderMB,

I’m a bit biased, because I know some people that were involved in both porn, camgirl, and OF work, so their opinions largely shape my own.

Surprisingly, “normal” porn is still viable as a career, with camgirls and OF creators often having an agency behind them to do shit like promote, book studios, hook them up with other girls for collaboration, etc. Some of it extends into porn too, and while I don’t know how much my friend was making from a mix of all three, she drives a BMW in the UK despite having a day job as a volunteer at a pet charity, so she’s probably doing fine. The way she described camgirl work was basically no different to call centre work.

It was all still thriving as an industry because people have their favourites, and (weird or not) some people like to find their creators so that they do more stuff.

Honestly, seeing how porn is (still) thriving has radically changed my view on legal prostitution. While I don’t know anyone inside that industry, my friend knew plenty of OF girls that were also on sex work websites, and it was crazy how many of them would pick up “extra work” to make more money - with basically zero protection that they would get from their agencies because they don’t want any involvement or knowledge of what’s going on.

Don’t get me wrong, the internet is constantly changing the industry, but it’s an industry that everyone assumed would die out for 20ish years now, and it’s stronger than ever. I think “traditional” porn will still be strong a decade from now.

EnderMB,

Wow, this is an absolutely wild take. What the fuck are you talking about?

EnderMB,

Hopefully it has customisable options - different voices, a setting to throw insults at you while it extracts the baby batter, and a FF victory jingle once you’ve nutted.

EnderMB,

It amazes me that American’s are still trying to make this a thing.

They’ve not only “invented” the sausage roll, they named it after a staple part of a Christmas dinner. It’s two simultaneous kicks in the face.

EnderMB,

Not just prison, life imprisonment under the oversight of medical professionals, until he can be deemed to not be a danger to others.

From a security perspective, what he’s done is very impressive. It sounds like he has a lot of troubles, though, and if anything this act has probably pushed the authorities to give him the medical help he probably needed.

EnderMB,

I like cooking, so I went all out trying to cook a nice chicken dinner for me and my wife. I made stock the day before, brined a chicken, made basically everything from scratch, etc. In my haste to get everything ready, I cooked the chicken upside down. 🤦‍♂️

Alongside this, I have IBS, but am relatively lucky in that I can usually see the signs of when my stomach will start acting up. I’ve been planning a boxing day walk, and I’m so bloated my stomach looks bigger than my (30 weeks pregnant) wife’s. It’s gonna be a fun day…

EnderMB,

Sync is the reason I’m here. For me, Sync was Reddit, and now, Sync is Lemmy.

Much like with Reddit years ago, with great apps like BaconReader and RIF, Lemmy is benefiting from having a huge choice of apps. Definitely try them all, and support the ones you like.

EnderMB,

Decades ago, my dad bought a PC that came with a free CD for a game called Retribution. The box art looked unlike anything I’d ever seen before (basically 3D graphics at a time when the Mega Drive reigned supreme). Sadly, the disc didn’t work, but I’ve tried to get my hands on a copy, to no avail.

Looking at the graphics now, they weren’t even that good…but for the mid-nineties for a small child, absolutely amazing.

EnderMB,

Oh man, I really like One Punch Man, and I’ve always been a fan of the whole “poking fun at anime tropes thing”, but if you spend 30 mins on the subreddit for that subject you find a lot of people that don’t really see that the “child that’s actually much older than they look” thing isn’t a justifiable excuse for filling your sub with subjective images of a child.

At a certain point, it basically became trolling to raise that these people needed their hard drives checked by law enforcement professionals, and less to do with the thing that I actually enjoyed.

EnderMB,

Same, although often stuff that won’t kill me, but will just make me ill or upset. Practically every time I clean my guinea pig’s cage, my brain looks at the little tablet-shaped turds they leave behind and thinks “just eat one” see what it’s like".

I hate my brain.

EnderMB,

That doesn’t make any sense. If I were “higher up”, do you think I would be actually doing any IC work? I’d be in management, and probably won’t even know where to look at any of the fucking source code.

Feel free not to take my word for it, but also feel free to ask anyone that has any experience with Alexa, or anyone that has monitored traffic leaving the device.

Is Lemmy just full of conspiracy nuts or something?

EnderMB,

That’s not how it works, at all, at ANY tech company. I know, because Amazon has a shared GitFarm, with detailed documentation on how things work, and most importantly the better part of a decade where no one inside or outside of the company has found the device “listening”.

I said it elsewhere, but will repeat since you clearly have no idea about the tech industry. Amazon treats it’s corp employees like shit. If ANYONE was going to leak shit about their employer doing something shitty, it would be an Amazon employee, especially since their URA process is so widely known.

IF Amazon get caught spying, they get everything that they deserve. I’ve never worked in the Ring org, so whatever they do is on them, and if they get caught being shitty with customer data they should be punished severely. What I can say, which (again) is backed by a decade of people not calling out the really-fucking-easily-verified fact that Alexa isn’t phoning home outside of the utterances you say to it. Wakewords don’t leave the device, they’re an offline trigger to get the “actual” content.

I’ll repeat it again, this is an insane take that I haven’t experienced after a decade of posting on Reddit and Twitter. Why is the fediverse full of conspiracy theorists that don’t do basic research before making statements?

EnderMB,

True, that is more accurate. IMO, in those instances, Amazon get all the shit that they deserve…although for many instances these are in their terms of service. There has been no shortage of scandals where Amazon have used utterance data for training ML models, or where they’ve retained voice data for the same reasons, when these have been in the TOS from the beginning.
