KpntAutismus,

i torrent video files via qbittorrent from my PC onto a truenas folder on my server (my old PC), which is attached to a jellyfin jail, from where i can watch it with every device i have wireguard vpn installed on. boom. private video streaming service.

for ebooks, the same thing happens, but i manually move the files onto my kobo libre 2. i don’t have very many ebooks to manage.

the syncthing idea is great, but i suspect your ebook reader is running android. the libre 2 runs a closed down version of linux i believe.

KpntAutismus,

the watchband is what makes or breaks a watch for me. had multiple smart watches with varying watchbands.

you might enjoy one made from fabric or a slightly thin leather one, body hair gets caught in metal ones and my skin seems to not like silicone very much.

What phone do you sugest for your grandparents?

I got a task to buy a smart phone for my grandparents, they are not techsavy but they know how to use basic functions. Iam looking for an andoid because it has language pack i need. I dont need it to have lots of functions, onley a good camera and a big screen. Bonus points if it can be flashed with some kind of simplefied...

KpntAutismus,

if you’re located in europe, fairphones might be an option. pretty expensive for what they are, but they get 7 years of software support. plus they’re easily fixable if your grandparents are a bit clumsy.

they have been getting bigger every generation, and the cameras are quite usable under normal lighting conditions.

KpntAutismus,

very interesting, that could even help fight corruption. but what politician would ever make that a law? if you have the power to decide if you get to be lazy and tell lies, you will decide to be lazy and tell lies.

KpntAutismus,

“what in the cinnamon toast fuck is this?”

KpntAutismus,

“die schüssel sprengen” (detonating the bowl) suddenly got a whole new meaning.

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

KpntAutismus,

that’s why i use spotify, almost all songs i want, great UI, the discovery algorithm is rad, and sharing a playlist for the communal work speaker is easy.

KpntAutismus,

fun fact: i have access to printers located in china through our company network.

but i’ll probably get fired if i print out a john xina

KpntAutismus,

i’ve always been fascinated how american cops just erupt into chaos whenever something did’t go how they wanted it to, despite not telling the person what they wanted them to do.

and then be confused why people anre’t following orders when shouting conflicting commands from 3 different officers with a dog barking uncontrollably in the background.

thank god the police takes itself more seriously where i live.

KpntAutismus,

absolutely, i’m gonna donate to the jellyfin devs soon.

KpntAutismus,

i can’t code for shit, but i am willing to help in any way i can. at the moment thats money and bug reports.

How is the piracy experience on an iPad ?

So I am planning on buying an ipad, never owned one before. I have always been an android guy and from what I have heard Ipad os or ios is pretty restrictive in nature so I was wondering how much does it hamper the piracy experience. For example on android I can torrent files of any nature or size without any restrictions and...

KpntAutismus,

my brother has a budget samsung tablet. i’m not a fan of samsung myself, but he says it’s great. way easier file management too. hmu if you want to pirate anything specific, i may know a few websites.

KpntAutismus, (edited )

all of these are valid options for making coffe.

but what distro is this?

KpntAutismus, (edited )

i was about to say linux mint as well. dump some coffe in, some water, press it down and off you go!

non-proprietary and very reliable.

KpntAutismus,

having your own NAS rocks! i run jellyfin and adguard under truenas.

KpntAutismus,

honestly, i barely know how to write shit for an arduino. i have no prior experience with software. linux stuff is learning by doing. try something and see if that works. the text tutorials in the documentations are often the best way to install stuff. you’ll eventually figure it out.

KpntAutismus,

do. not. connect. your. TV. to. the. internet.

i would recommend using an SBC as a video input device (single board computer) and using whatever service through that. (ideally under linux)

KpntAutismus,

this is me with every piece of tech. my stuff usually doesn’t make noises, so the machine must be very upset to beep at me.

What VPN do you use and why?

If you are a pirate VPN is an essential tool. I am trying to ascertain the popularity of various VPNs in piracy community. In this excerise, I will list several Popular VPNs in the comment if you use one of them just upvote that comment and reply the reason. If you don’t find your VPN listed add a comment with just their name....

KpntAutismus,

they are very committed to not save any of your data, to the point that their servers run entirely in RAM and get cleared daily. but i am considering switching to mullvad when my subscription runs out.

KpntAutismus,

11:17 is the timestamp that is most relevant here, separated bike paths should be the norm. and not the shitty “fahrradschutzsstreifen” bullshit they are pulling in germany. i have to swerve around people going not even 20km/h when i’m going 50. there’s no way that reduces accidents. the netherlands rock. i went on a vacation there a few years ago. public transport is so much better there. (key phrase “viable alternative”)

KpntAutismus,

so swerving into oncoming traffic is safe? i had numerous near crashes because people overtook a bike driver coming my way. the netherlands do it better, the bikes have their own separated lane.
