Terms of Service (media.kbin.social)

alt text(parodical) YouTube popup: Going to pee during the ad break violates YouTube’s Terms of Service - It looks like you selfishly left the room while our ads were playing. Don’t you know that by watching youtube you entered a CONTRACT?! - We killed the competition by operating at a loss for a decade. We paid good money...

With “don’t be evil” Google means the user.

Since I use the MotionBox Video Browser I never visited YT anymore, no need of it. In MotionBox I’ve acces to all videos from YT and almost any other streaming platform, even from front-ends, way faster and without ads, nags or other crap. Love it. Maybe also PokeTube, when I want to download a Video in mp4 or mp3.

It doesn’t matter to the rich if they can make more money. “Is the world going to shit in 2050? Until then we are already dead after a long life full of comforts, screw the rest, including our children.” Shit from greedy parasites which rule the world, applauded and voted for by subnormals who don’t even know how to piss a hole in the snow without a manual.

For YT and others I use the MotionBox Browser, it’s the best and fastest, with it you never need to visit YT again. No ads, tracking or other crap, it even gives you the YT link for sharing. It supports DuckDuckGo, BitTorrent, TMDB, Youtube, Dailymotion, Vimeo, Twitch, TikTok, Facebook, Odysee, PeerTube, Last .fm and SoundCloud. (FOSS, Windows, Linux, Mac, Android)

Precisely because Windows has been the main target for hackers and malware, for being by far the most used OS, it has caused Windows today to be the best protected OS, with a Defender that is currently one of the best AVs on the market and a effective Sandbox system that prevents any changes without user intervention in the root system. Hopefully in terms of privacy it will be just as good, at least by default it is not like that.

There are good and save keyboards in F-Droid, but, well, the problem is Android itself. F-Droid is essential to obtain apps which respect privacy, but this only patch some holes when Google itself control the entire OS.

Mobile phones and privacy is an oximoron, because of this, I never use my phone for important data.

  • Review apps on Exodus Privacy
  • Desactivate GPS/Localisation service, at least if you dont use it
  • Review permissions of all installed apps and set them to desactivate after use in the app settings
  • Disconnect WiFi when you go offline
  • Don’t use public WiFi, at least without VPN, even if it is only a free one (eg. like Calyx, FOSS, trustworthy, no account, encrypted, without datalimit, but only 1 server from the Calyx institute, anyway save enough for an occasional use, Techradar review).
  • Common sense (the user is the biggest privacy hole)

The whole western World have a Capitalist system, but there are differences in different countries, depending on whether the left or the right governs, which is directly expressed in social rights and social support.

European capitalism is not nearly the same as that of the United States, a country where homeless people are manufactured en masse due to the total lack of social investment and labor rights. This as a final result costs the state much more money than investments in social projects and laws.

It is clear that the construction of social housing is a large investment, but it is profitable as a result, apart from creating jobs and increasing people’s general purchasing power, new income in public coffers by people who have managed to rebuild their lives. with a home, impossible when they were on the street, depending entirely on state aid without being able to contribute anything in exchange.

In Spain there are projects in this direction with the left gov, but not so much in the rest of Europe, mostly with governments on the right. The only thing missing for this is political will, nothing else.

The real problem nowadays is, even though there are around 100 browsers to choose from, there are not much alternatives when you want to avoid big brother browsers, there are only Firefox or some forks (with some excepcions, mostly crappy and outdated), some indies, like Vivaldi and UR from small EU companies, Otter, SSuite Netsurf if you have Windows, and not much more, some text only browsers apart.
