What non-SMS non-Apple app can I use to "text" my younger kid on their iPad

Hi! My less-than-10-year-old has their own iPad (registered under my apple id) and wants to be able to “text” with the rest of the family. Most of us are not Apple people though: Android phones, using some combo of SMS, Discord, and Signal. The little one doesn’t have a phone, so I think that prevents us from signing them...

The transition from the holiday season back to the normal drudgery is so depressing. Is there any way to make Jan / Feb less depressing?

like, it’s still dark at 5pm, there are barely any sports on, still bitterly cold and austere and it hurts to go outside, but you’re not even looking forward to christmas or the new year. the new year is here, and it’s largely the same as last year. except you’re getting older.

Highly recommend bright light therapy the moment you wake up or at the desired wakeup time. I can’t imagine what it must be like for those unaware of these things, the darkness would have me on the brink

Imma do a second “dose” right now, the alternative reality makes me shudder

It seems as if capitalism sows the seeds of its own destruction. Not saying I know a better way per se but its in there all the same

Edit: to put it in Pokémon perspective: capitalism is Ghost type and its super-effective against Ghost type

You could try to start replacing individual things with better alternatives. Its much harder to just suddenly change your diet

Why do people not understand that you can agree with one thing someone said or did while disagreeing with the majority of what they stand for? (www.youtube.com)

An example is that I generally despise Jordan Peterson and most of what he says, but I often quote one thing that Jordan Peterson said (in the linked video) because I think it’s a good summary of why toxic positivity doesn’t work....

Not sure if it was a fever dream but probably more opiod medication related…

Its some combination of the following

  • some cartoon wedding segment
  • South Park?
  • there’s like a wedding song that gets cut off but it sort of sounds like this but its like an organ and I’m saying that because its possible I was playing that game a little while South Park was playing in background
  • its only like a 3-4 second motif and I feel like it plays a few times throughout
  • structurally its conjunct and it starts on the tonic,
  • quasi-Pachelbel-esque

Ya, like my chestnuts being lazy thread got ripped a new one :( Many humorous posts go the way of the Dodo bird, its pretty ridiculous

Maybe if there’s a better place, I’'d just do that but it still seems excessive. And we have our share of schizos obsessed with pounding their big red downvote button—no diet coke necessary
