dingus,

Well, thankfully I feel like he’s statistically unlikely to all that much longer.

Just imagine sitting down and eating five fucking dozen eggs to start your day. Gaston is insane.

dingus,

Did she change her name to that?? Because what the heck lol

Idk. I’m not in IT, but I’ve always seemed to have a tendency to try to troubleshoot tech problems.

I help out my coworkers, parents, and even my younger sibling on occasion (he’s in his early 20s). If it’s solely an age thing, then you’d think I wouldn’t be doing it with those similar to my own age or younger than me.

At work I even figured out why our headsets (vital to our job) would intermittently fail and stop working, absolutely destroying our workflow. Our IT department couldn’t manage to figure it out. But I eventually found that it intermittently conflicted with a program on the computer (Microsoft Teams).

I’m absolutely no genius and my knowledge is probably rather minimal. But I think it’s a difference in attitude and affinity for the stuff.

dingus,

Why do you think that ended up as the top result?

dingus,

Yeah I have over a thousand songs in my Spotify playlist and I’m constantly searching for and adding new music.

They sometimes make me burp, too. Maybe it’s one of those genetic things because my dad has the same experience.

That definitely is a thing! If you buy English/hothouse cucumbers instead of standard American cucumbers, they are less prone to causing this!

How to pull rocks out of pipe in the ground?

My mom has a hole in the ground that she puts her clothes drying hanger in. Like this. The hole in the ground is a 2" or so pipe, set in concrete. The pipe has filled with gravel. Anyone have a tip on getting the rocks out? I can only get so many out using my fingers and then trying to use a set of chopsticks.

dingus,

Curious…why do you need to remove the rocks from the pipe?

dingus,

I’m not at all excusing it, but don’t prisoners technically get paid for their work? It’s just some horrifically pathetic wage like $0.50/hr or something like that.

dingus,

Oh for sure, but I think it’s a really very incredibly important distinction

dingus,

Do you have a lot of carpet? Tbh they seem to work best if you have non carpeted floors. Also, there are a zillion robot vacuums out there and the lowest pricing tier sucks major ass unfortunately. If you’re not looking to spend at least $250, anything below that isntrash and absolutely not worth owning at all.

I have a coworker who if I had met her online, I probably wouldn’t have gotten along with her. We have such completely polar opposite and radically different viewpoints and philosophies in life. We are exact polar opposites in things like political ideologies, religious notions, moral conventions, philosophical views on life, the state of the world, new technology, etc.

But despite our radical differences, she is among the people who I care most about on this planet. If I met her in some sort of internet debate, I would hate her and she would hate me. But in person, when you slowly get to know people over time, it’s different. You realize that they are human just like you are. You both just want to survive on this planet and make your own way. You both have struggles. You both just want to joke and get along with one another.

dingus,

Lmao thank you! This is the comment I was looking for. Calling me out for being stupid and making a mistake instead of downvoting without explanation!

dingus,

That’s what you think, P. Sherman at 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney, Australia!

dingus,

While true that it isn’t, Spotify puts out their wrapped before the year end.

I remember when I first got a full time job. I had finished school at that point. Every day I was just so fucking exhausted and wondered how the hell adults do this every day until they die. And then you have some people who do a zillion things after work and I’m just like how the fuck??

I still like working a milion times better than school because…1. I have the type of job that I cannot bring home with me. I don’t have to constantly worry about homework and can really just fully relax at the end of the day. I never could when I was in school. 2. I get to earn my own money and buy whatever the hell I want (so long as I can afford it).

dingus,

Years ago I was trying to get into med school. But I didn’t think I could so I stopped trying at the end and pursued a different route. One of the reasons I didn’t go was I was afraid I would kill myself if I went. In the back of my mind I’ve always been a bit disappointed with myself that I didn’t try hard enough to get in, but this sort of cements my reasoning for not going.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend.

dingus,

I’m still waiting for the day EV’s will be reasonable for people who don’t own a home that they can charge their vehicle at. It’s a humongous population and people don’t seem to have great ideas to incentivize people to tackle the problem.

dingus,

Honestly I’d love to see it if you had a picture and like blurred your face or something

I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?

Even if we’re subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they’ve managed to overwhelm my feed.

dingus,

I don’t want them blocked outright, though. I just want better feed algorithms. It shouldn’t just be whoever spams the most takes over my entire feed. The number of posts from any given community that show up in subscribed, local, all, etc. should be limited so that smaller communities aren’t pushed out of existence.
