Dude, you think I haven’t heard that explanation before? Did you forget where we are?

Kangaroo is great if it’s prepared well.

You don’t know what reductionist means, do you.

By the time it’s said, someone’s landed six of them.

Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?

I’m convinced he’s not all there. Dude was talking about what he’s going to do when he gets out of prison. He doesn’t seem to understand they’re going to wheel him out on a trolley.

I use a Kobo Glo with Calibre and it’s been great. Calibre will even install firmware updates for me.

The screen doesn’t really look like a page and the experience isn’t like having a physical book, but it’s been good enough for me to enjoy it.

For all your travel questions related to France : VisitingFrance (jlai.lu)

When lockdowns were coming to an end, there was an influx of people asking travel related questions on r/france. Something I wish existed at that time was a francophone equivalent to r/VisitingIceland, which is an incredible resource and community when it comes to making your travel plans to Iceland....

I had a French co-worker for a while. His opinion on Paris was that the rest of France would divorce them if it was possible.

There’s a company in the UK that proposes building gravity batteries using existing shafts that were excavated for mining.

Leave 'em alone unless we can genuinely make their lives better.

“Sooo, we see you’re eating off lead plates. That might not be a great idea in the long run.”

I read an explanation for that, which was that hiccupping is the default mode for the muscles involved, and there’s a part of the brain that suppresses it. The 30-year hiccupper had damage to that part of the brain, so they started and never stopped.

+9 for straightness. How often do you see a stick that straight? Not often at all.

The headline might as well be “for one brief moment, Israel recalls Geneva conventions governing treatment of unarmed civilians”.

Beer! Solves almost as many problems as it causes.

Why do most people refuse to accept that they are wrong

I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Is it so hard to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the other person is speaking facts? When they come to know they are wrong they proceed to insult/make fun of...

spittingimage,
@spittingimage@lemmy.world avatar

Because I’m not! I’m not I’m not I’m not!

More seriously, we tend to make it a Great Big Thing when people are wrong. If we acknowledge it and move on, and let them do the same, I’m sure admitting when we’re wrong would be much less painful.

Thanks for the educated view on the topic.

So even a 70°C cup of coffee (slightly warm, almost cold) is 343 kelvin.

Not relevant to your point, but 60°C is hot enough to scald. If that cup of coffee was 70°C, I’d be careful about sipping it.

It’s more like…

Me: “I should do it like this.”

Narrator: “But somehow he didn’t.”

Me: “It would be so much better if I had done it like I planned.”

When you do, don’t judge the series by the first volume. DC told Gaiman they wanted a horror series. It was only after that they loosened the reins and let him take the story where he wanted it to go.

Not the last. Chronicles of Amber is awesome.

I don’t remember they guy’s name, but he was a Minecraft Youtuber who liked to shout “Let’s go!” at the end of EVERY SENTENCE HE SPOKE. I gave him ten minutes of my attention and that was being generous.

Meme makers making memes about meme makers making memes… I don’t know if the humour’s too refined for me or if it’s just not funny.

Neighbour did this last week.

Had to ask him back the next night and admit I didn’t know how to clean a fish.
