wildcardology,

The op pic isn’t photorealistic but I can’t still draw like that.

Stupidmanager, to memes in Let do this

back in the 90s I worked for a pc tech shop and my buddy in a different office location would often quick draw customers and reactions, then fax them to me. It was a game, telling a story, all via fax. gah, I loved the 90s… today these same drawings would be on the front page for 1 day and then forgotten until some bot reposts them. But in the 90’s, we could tell adventure stories in 3 block panels to others via fax.

I had this idea, years back, to start a subreddit for missed photos, IMAP instead of ITAP—“I missed a picture.” I was going to make it a paragraph description, but this would be just as good.

Edit: guys, see how this is all in the past tense? I’m not going to be doing it. I don’t want to be a mod.

Sotuanduso,

It’s been about half an hour. Have you done it yet? Or are you going to let someone else beat you to it?

RinseDrizzle,

Yesterday you said tomorrow - just do it!

I can’t tell you how often I hear Shia Lebouf screaming all that at me in my head when I’m trying to get myself to do something, lol!

I would subscribe and contribute to this community for sure. So often I see amazing things and don’t have my phone to capture it, and it would be a cool place to share some of those things, both serious and silly ♡

That could be a good experience for the baby.

I wonder if there is some research showing the effects on exposing babies to visual art.

JoMiran, (edited )
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

I don’t know about visual art but there is about music. Exposing a baby to complex music (many notes), like classical and jazz can help develop perfect pitch. The brain learns musical notes like it learns language.

xX_fnord_Xx,

Babies take to art at an impressive rate, you just have to really grind their face into it.

The crying stops once they understand the art.

moon,

Idk, clearly the baby thinks it’s a mediocre piece of art😐

EndHD,

maybe, but i feel like while it may correlate, it’s not the cause. the cause is more likely that if a parent cares enough to show their child art, they’re probably more nurturing and prioritize academia more than parents who raise an iPad kid

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yeah this would be one that’s really hard to separate causation from correlation that’s for sure

Cliff,

But it’s safe to say: Every single person who confuses correlation and causation ends up dying.

Lemmygizer,

Depends on the art. High contrast imagery is generally considered developmentally important.

Yes! For the fun and privacy!

doingless,

At least in the US there is no expectation of privacy in public.

I_Fart_Glitter,

Doesn’t mean you have to be a dick about it tho…

doingless,

I agree. Honestly I’d be cool with instituting privacy laws if businesses and government had to follow them too.

Fiivemacs, (edited )

Enough with the over reach ov government please…they already have their gubby little shit covered hands in too much . Over regulation just ruins shit.

doingless,

I’m good with public filming in our current world where the government tracks everything we do. It’s the only hope for a shred of transparency and accountability. I’d only be okay with restrictions on public filming if those restrictions are also applied to all of the powers that be as well.

captain_aggravated, to memes in We did it?
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

What a bizarre experience.

When I was in school…I’m pretty sure the state history cirriculum was designed to be America centric, and pro-America. Any nation a boomer would remember being at war with? Not in the history books, or they appear out of nowhere, do something pro-America, and then disappear again, like Russia did from 1939 to 1945. And both World and US history classes end at 1950 because 1. to the limp dicks that actually make the policy, “The fifties are practically now” and 2. we haven’t done much “being the good guys” since the jitterbug fell out of fashion.

So I’m not used to seeing something in a history textbook that isn’t from at least two of my lifetimes ago.

Scientician,

We had the same textbooks I see.

Confound4082,

We homeschool our kids, and are religious, but we are heavily opposed to Christian nationalism, and want our kids to learn what actually happened, not some whitewashed curriculum that downplays anyone particular people’s ideological downfalls.

We found a curriculum, but it took a while. One of the first ones I opened to read through had a first chapter titled “God’s gift to the world through America” noped right out of that one…

Are they going to leave out the part where the president called it a hoax while simultaneously spitballing ideas about UV light, bleach and horse dewormer cures all while thousands of Americans were dying every day. Or the part where he emptied the treasury with zero oversight?

w2tpmf,

It’s World History not American History. Different subjects.
