I’m a decade older, but I feel like a lot of people who left for Lemmy were active on Reddit 10-12 years ago, and have preference for the flavor of discourse of that time. As it grew, reddit became far too sarcastically meta in a lot of ways. What was once a spicy “in joke” became boilerplate. I’m not surprised at the exhumation of the old memes. It may just be a phase of some sort, a necessary reset, who knows?
This is done to keep employees from sticking in unknown thumb drives that could install malware. Several critical systems on protected networks have been hacked in the past by leveraging human curiosity and placing a compromised thumb drive on the ground in the companies parking lot. Gluing shut the USB ports is a simple defense against that.
The thing is that Nestle owns fucking EVERYTHING, so it’s really hard to boycott all of it. I have managed so far, but I don’t expect everyone to go through the effort
I think, to truly boycott something, is to actually be invested in it. To really NOT buy or use a service or product, no matter the situation. To look for other products and services that are more moral and to start using them instead, even when the costs would be higher.
What is important to you?
You can hate the system, hate someone, a thing, product, service. Something. But it’s your choice, will you actually do differently or still just follow the path they made for you as an option to follow. And sometimes it may be the only path available.
I agree with you on that. HGSS was major improvement on GSC. Plus, it had a pedometer lol
But GSC honestly scratches that itch I get for classic Pokemon in every way. I missed out on the physical/special split so it took me a while to adjust once I started playing Gen 4-6 (haven’t played past 6).
In short, New Coke might be objectively better, but it’s not Coca-Cola Classic lol
I was having my wisdom teeth removed. I was like 23. The anesthesiologist was a cute little blonde chick. Apparently the last thing I said before I went under was “Man this girl is a real…knockout…”
I feel like it’s kind of the same in other meme communities like 9gag and reddit. Reposts upon reposts upon reposts, with the occasional funny new thing.
Topical meme communities are sometimes a bit better with this.
Well, if it’s content, I don’t really give a fuck, to be honest. Lemmy needs more engagement, and if that means posting 20 years of memes in a 2 year time period, let’s see some nyan cat! 🌈
