I used to see Everett True every day on Reddit’s vintage comics subreddit. Fun to see him again!

The style looks familiar to me, but I guess I had never heard the name before now. Found this one circling around, and I love seeing old comics.

jennie breeden!!! I freaking LOVE her!!

VentraSqwal,

Well I’m sold with this comic. It’s hilarious and so true. I’ll definitely have to look up more of her work.

Fucking amazes me that people still post this shit, the comedy is weak sauce at best and the whole being a nonce thing. Thought people would have walked away from CAD long ago.

How to draw a fly on your hand:

  1. Draw a short line with a pencil or pen
  2. Draw the rest of the fly

Then one day you realize that, they have no idea what they are doing. You think that might be a comforting thought but it ends up keeping you up at night.

I had been waiting from pre-teen, through teenage years, and past my young adult years. Wonder, waiting, hoping I would someday feel like I had "grown up" and was an "adult" now.

That's the trick: it never happens. There's little difference between a "kid" and an "adult" besides obvious physical maturation. You just get new things to juggle and new worries. Bills and job instead of homework. Kids and coworkers and friends (if you're lucky) instead of HS drama. I still don't feel that much different at the core than I did at ~18 and that was 19 years ago.

Chetzemoka,

Funny story, instead of referring to groups of adults as " hey guys," I like to refer to them as "hey kids." You know how many grown adults I've had object to this? Zero. Not one. Ever.

We all know it's true

No one ever gets the point until people start getting beaten, threatened, wounded, maimed or killed. They’ll keep arguing the details until there is an authoritarian government telling you what you can or can’t do or say.

Then everyone stands around wondering how it all happened.

Most regular people I know just want to live life and not really bother with anyone else in a negative way … in fact most people I’ve ever known would do something good for the other person if it meant it would help. Most people are just good and have a very good nature.

It’s the psychotic few billionaires and millionaires out there that want a world with authoritarian fascist government in power because it means those wealthy few get to keep all their money and if they do get their way, they can exponentially grow the wealth they already have. It’s all about money and power.

It’s all about a handful of morons who aren’t aware of their finite life that believe they can become temporary rulers of the world.

Some number of people are getting maimed, wounded, or killed. Do people have a threshold number at which point they decide it’s too much?

Didn’t it turn out MJ wasn’t actually a sex pest 🤔 ?

MossyFeathers,

Yeah. The kids came out later and talked about how their parents pressured them into making shit up. Iirc they said he was a weird guy, but he never touched them inappropriately. It was too late at that point though. People had already made up their minds and the response was generally, “well, but I’m sure he has. Just 'cause they weren’t molested doesn’t mean he didn’t molest other kids. He seems like a kid molester.”

In the court of public vibe check he was guilty regardless of what actually happened. Poor dude’s life was tragic. I’m not normally one to feel a whole lot of sympathy for the mega rich, but MJ was a good one.

PatFussy, in Capitalism

This is the main problem I have with the people who call for socialism. If you boil it down to what they really want, it usually gets down to “i want free stuff”. They dont want to socialize means of production… most of the time they dont even know what that even means. People conflate social programs with socialism when thats just not the case.

If you truly hate capitalism so much, you will be willing to reduce your paycheck, willing to purchase less, willing to donate your social wealth for the common good.

etuomaala, in Capitalism

consumerism != capitalism

Capitalism is the allowing of control over companies to be bought and sold without the consent of their workers.

Consumerism is using cheap marketing tactics to sell cheap garbage to people who don’t know any better, and is mostly the result of not requiring companies to pay for the waste they create.

Either of these could easily exist without the other.

Stop defining everything you don’t like about the economy as capitalism.
