Can comments just be funny? Why does everyone have to try and make some deep point?
Really though why should a broad medium like comics need to be limited in tone and theme? Just because you like unserious comics? Serious comics don’t stop those from existing.
Words come to mean different things at different times. Ever read a “comic book”? Not all (or most) are funny. Cartoons in newspapers have historically been all over the place in mood but been referred to broadly as comics or funnies. The name implies a format, not a mood.
But it is tho. Being an actual adult is taking care of yourself and maximizing what you can do and how to do it. How best to support onesself. Not suffering for the sake of suffering and then insisting everyone else suffer as well.
Huh? I dunno how to break it to you, but being an adult is about handling your shit. You get your shit done. No excuses, no h alf-assing things.
If you use a disability as an excuse to not handle your shit, you aren’t adulting. And that’s coming from a physical cripple. You find the tools you need, you find accommodations that get the job done.
Now, much like with physical disability, neurodivergence can mean that you simply can’t do the same things as anyone else. That’s why things like ssi and ssdi exist, they give you room. I’m not talking a literal job in all cases, I’m talking about getting the shit done that is within one’s ability to perform.
But there’s always a point where a person has to decide to either handle their shit or punk out and use their limitations as an excuse. And that’s what the cartoon is about, imo.
Would have been funnier if the guys shooting him had a diverse cast like the US Army, The Taliban, and some Chinese Assassin, instead of some generic dessert dudes with guns.
kidneys should be the insult, assholes get shit on just for doing their job, and they still try their hardest. their only bad qualities are our own failures of duty towards them.
I dislike the "So in other words you mean that <add_something_negative>" technique used in a conversation. Especially if it's not in a form of a question but rather a statement.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Do you mean that <add_something_negative>?"
A nicer way to put it, in my opinion 🤗 Takes more of the blaming out of the reply, keeping it a bit more neutral ❤
.
Don't get me wrong - sometimes it is needed to assess negative things people do.
But it can be done in a more polite way.
No need to be more harsh than what a situation/conversation really needs.
