TALL421, in Cope harder pasta eaters/s

This reads like such astroturfing advertisement. Also it’s just fucking sad if you really think domino’s is the height of pizza.

Vode_An,

Yes, lemmy is large enough to get astroturfing bots now. Congratulations you are very smart.

rambaroo,

It’s embarrassing how butthurt people are about this post. Euros can’t take a joke.

Vode_An,

I enjoy seeing how many people had an opinion and lacked the words to express it. Cowards, I’ll suck you all off at the same time. Momma didn’t raise no coward and those massive American pizzas trained me for oral stretching.

beefcat,

it is pretty obviously a joke at dominos expense

Srsly, why is everything George Lucas writes so quotable? And not just his hilariously bad ones, but the women and the children too

SlopppyEngineer, in Happy Holidays

I work with people in three different time zones. There is always someone having a flower festival, religious day or national holiday. Nobody gets offended for forgetting a holiday or if they did they don’t last long.

It’s always ironic and super self aware wolf when a customer says they “feel bad” for you because you’re working on Sunday, Christmas, etc, or working in the dead of night for 24/7 establishments.

Also, Catholics and many other Christian denominations literally believe that people who work on a Sunday go to hell for violating the Sabbath, yet after Sunday mass tons of them flood into restaurants, causing the cooks and wait staff to go to hell.

Illecors, in Happy Holidays

This meme is pushing it because, well, meme. And that’s all fine.

As a non-native atheist speaker, though, I have to say “happy holidays” just doesn’t roll off the tongue the way “merry christmas” does.

It’s not a big deal at all, but I do find it annoying at the minimal level.

Blackmist, in Hallmark channel go brrrrr

They look a lot like the identikit romance books my mum would read. Even she didn’t know which one’s she’d read before. Be like three quarters of the way in and then go “oh, I’ve read this”.

Pretty sure ChatGPT could create those things by now, such is the limitless array of imagination on offer within.

xenoclast, (edited )

They don’t need anything nearly as complicated as GPT LLMs . They already generate these scripts with a MS Word macro. It’s been like that for years.

Once in a while the source dictionary is updated. They sell the scripts in lots of like 20 and charge for any customized work.

I’m certain those books work the same way.

If you can think of a way that reduces work and increases profits. They are already doing it.

Mr_Blott,

Amusing, but every Lee Child book is like that too! Still enjoyed them in a kinda brain-mush way

norbert,
@norbert@kbin.social avatar

I know some people like him but Dean Koontz might as well be filling out Mad Libs for all the originality in his stories. They're enjoyable enough for brain-mush but barely even qualify as "books."

Mr_Blott,

Christ I last read one of his in the 90s and thought the same! He must be just smearing wallpaper paste on the pages by now 😂

LemmyKnowsBest, (edited ) in On "Nostalgic" Reposts

I’m going to screenshot this and repost this on Lemmy, doing my part to keep their content flowing, and doing my part to reduce pixels with every repost.

Oh wait. I’m clearly confused. I thought I was on Reddit. This is Lemmy. I’ve been double dipping the last couple days.

Rentlar,

I’ll consider it a compliment for all of the Lemmyverse that my meme made you do a double-take of where you were.

LemmyKnowsBest,

Also me every day at 4pm passing everyone stuck in traffic with my bicycle.

ErKaf,

I would love to bike because if this. I sit in traffic jams all the time. But even with the car, I drive 40 Minutes. Wait, let me check how long I would need with the bike. Ah only 1h56m :) Yea not gonna do that. I’m faster at home even with traffic jams, and they are not every day.

jabathekek, (edited )
@jabathekek@sopuli.xyz avatar

I’m lucky that my city has good cycling infrastructure, so the ratio isn’t so skewed. You should get your city to creat some, then see how that works.

ErKaf,

Living in a village. Can’t afford to move out yet.

jabathekek,
@jabathekek@sopuli.xyz avatar

That’s unfortunate. Many smaller communities were designed around cars leaving no other feasible choice but to drive.

ErKaf,

As soon as I can move to some better place, I will switch to the bike instantly because I hate car driving.

Nurse_Robot,

Yeah let me just “get the city to creat some”, it’s that easy

WalrusDragonOnABike,

No matter the infrastructure, it takes a while to go 15 miles each way. Granted, its more consistent (with an ebike at least). At the extreme end, the drive to work has taken over 2 hours once. So biking would have been much faster. Most days is like 15-20 minutes for the drive vs 55-65 minutes for the bike ride

We respect your privacy enough to charge for access to it.

bobs_monkey, (edited )

Lol, anyone who thinks that by paying for Meta products is going to get privacy is delusional. You just won’t see ads. You’ll still see plenty of sponsored content, and your information/“advertising profile” will be sold.

The amount of trust people have in billionaires is too damn high.

Siethron,

I think you misunderstood my comment.

I was implying they’ll charge other corporations for access to their users privacy.

There’s got to be one of those super specific German words for that feeling when you pull up next them at the light. Like Schadenfreude but for this specific instance.
