Anyone knows the origin of this representation? I’ve seen a professor use it years ago and I thought it was his, but I guess not.

MelodicMischief,

It is from Matt Might, here.

Matt Might, a professor in Computer Science at the University of Utah, created The Illustrated Guide to a Ph.D. to explain what a Ph.D. is to new and aspiring graduate students.

One of my professors used to refer to it as:

Bull Shit

More Shit

Piled High and Deep

tigeruppercut,

Only in customer facing positions

orbitz,

My Dad used to say it was just BS piled higher and deeper, similar but I always liked the joke from that phrasing.

I have a multivariate calculus joke and it’s pretty normal but its goes on quite the tangent.

EDIT: Can somebody think of a better subject name for this joke? I tried physics at first but that’s too broad and I think Calculus is too specific so idk.

MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown,

Sounds like an angular motion joke.

I have a short calculus joke. It’s a little derivative.

Snoopey, in hippopocranuse!!

Can someone explain hippopocranuse?

jol,

You wouldn’t understand.

Knusper,

I’m guessing, the rainbow colours are there because prisms are triangular. And to make it look more ridiculous, of course.

The ☤ symbol is a caduceus, which got mixed up here with the Rod of Asclepius, which is a symbol for medicine.
So, it’s related to Hippocrates, who was a physician, perhaps most prominently known for the Hippocratic Oath.

I’ve never seen one up close before, it’s interesting how much their fins look like feathers, though it shouldn’t be that surprising given their purpose.
