InputZero,

Naw fam, I’ve been using Linux for years and I still goto Reddit threads for problem solving. I’m not like a guru or anything but I’m not new. I’ll try other sources first but I have no problem going to Reddit second.

InputZero,

I expected you to be a pro-capitalist shill but then you pull out this. Bravo. I misjudged you. Going back to where you said you support capitalism, I think your idea of capitalism is just outside the bullseye. Like you obviously understand a lot, I don’t need to explain much to you. I think your inaccuracy comes from linking currency with capitalism, which a lot of people do. They’re not the same thing. Keeping in mind I’m going to keep things in the most basic terms, capitalism, socialism, communism, are all different forms of distributive justice. Capitalism says, whomever contributes the most capital to an endeavor deserves the most distribution, labour is just a cost. Socialism says, whomever contributes labour deserves the most distribution, and communism says everyone deserves equal distribution regardless of labour and capital. You’re really close to the bullseye though, so close I’m not sure my comment is even worthwhile.

InputZero,

I don’t understand why this is such a hard thing for people and government to understand. Your car isn’t going to a place, you and the stuff you need to carry are. The car is just the means and there are many other means to do so, they just get a lot less attention and funding. Cars and traffic infrastructure have been subsidised for over a century now. Of course cars more developed, and of course we build our cities for cars, we’re socializing cars.

Yes, there are many areas that have been developed so car focused that it’s a necessity to own a car. People living in rural areas will always need personal cars. People in urban and suburban areas probably don’t and should give up their personal vehicles so Farmer can keep theirs.

InputZero,

I absolutely agree, but so long as it remains profitable developers will do it. Skip a whole lot of QC, rush to release the game, then use the launch to gather bug reports and fix those. Costs saved not hiring a ton of QC testers, get a return on the investment much sooner, get early players to pay to be QC testers basically. It’s a tried and tested formula now and it will keep happening until too many people won’t pre-order games.

InputZero,

You know what’s funny, I recently read a CNBC business article that said auto-makers are saying consumers aren’t buying enough electric and hybrid vehicles. That supply has outpaced demand. You know what they’re not going to do, drop prices like basic economic theory says they should. According to auto-makers the problem wasn’t that they over estimated how popular their products are, the problem is the consumers not living up to their expectations. If we were good little consumers we’d just take on more debt but apparently we’re not cooperating.

InputZero,

I tried WSL for a week to give it a fair shake. It sucked just horrible all around. The worst part is that it left behind reginfo and other crap I’m too afraid of trying to remove from fear of borking my windows install. Yeah I can reinstall it but I’m lazy.

InputZero,

There’s a story Mr. Rogers used to tell, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” That’s what you need to do, look for the helpers, which for adults and politics means look for the grass roots organizers. Go ask the people putting in the leg work how you can help. Yeah alone you are powerless but in a group you become powerful, find allies.

InputZero,

A warning about Framework, they’re on the bleeding edge of modular laptop design (not hardware). So while they may shift laptop design entirely, the bleeding edge always cuts. I don’t know anyone with a Framework laptop and if you’re the first person you know IRL to have one be prepared for unexpected issues. I really hope the idea takes off but I don’t envy the first adopters.

InputZero,

Even worse when you see every post incremented by one or more. Either a racist troll had stumbled their way in or an ad-bot was spam posting. Either way, took a few days for the mods to get around to cleaning it up. Passwords for every board was the only way to slow it down. They were not the good old days.

InputZero,

As an adult who had to sit with a first grader to make sure they stayed in their zoom classes, I couldn’t agree more. I don’t hold a grudge against her teacher, we were all doing our best. It was just impossible to keep a first grader focused on her laptop for more than 20 min at best.

InputZero,

True but each of those times her violent outburst felt grounded. Character A does a very bad thing to Danerys, and she reacts. It made sense to her character. Kings landing didn’t, because the people of Kings Landing cheered her arrival. Cersci was not popular and about to fall anyway, Danerys could have had what she wanted, Westeros and the love of the people.

To make her turn work Cersci needed to fall before Danerys got to Westeros and someone likable is on the Iron throne. Now the people want to hold onto their new monarch who saved them from Cersci or have Cersci turn likable. She had a rough start but through experience becomes a good leader only to have Denarys dethrone her. Something other than RING THE BELLS.

InputZero,

Agreed, that type of person seems to me like someone who associates their job with their identity. Doesn’t help that our identities are almost exclusively linked with our occupation but anyway or that Reddit takes advantage of people who do.

InputZero,

In no way, shape, or form am I an expert in martial arts or combat. I would imagine however it depends on the situation. An army with spears and an individual with a spear are two very different things. Armys equipped with swords vs spears, spears win. Individuals fighting with a sword and a spear probably comes down to individual skill more than the specific weapon.

InputZero,

Which goes back to the saying “you can’t use the masters tools to tear down the masters house.” Which I disagree with, you can’t use the masters tools to build your own house but you can and should use any and every tool available to you to tear down the masters house.

With that said, us being observers at best, you can just feel bad about the whole thing. It’s okay to just feel bad that bad things are happening, you don’t need to force that feeling to pick a side. There is no both sides argument, but people on both sides are getting hurt and it’s okay to not feel okay about that.

InputZero,

I get that the picture is more art than an actual representation of anything. With that said even as art The Matrix in my opinion doesn’t really fit there. Like it’s entirely within the bounds of The Handmaid’s Tale so keeping with the Ven Diagram aesthetic with artistic license it means that The Matrix is most like The Handmaid’s tale, which isn’t not. The Handmaid’s Tale is a feminist story about the domination of women in society, The Matrix is a philosophical exploration of the questions what is real and do we have free choice.

Maybe the argument could be made they’re both about choice but that feels hollow. Maybe put The Hunger Games there I’m definitely over thinking this.

InputZero,

I’ve had extended family members declare bankruptcy several times and they’re still approved for a credit card. Whereas I have never missed a credit payment in my life have a hard time getting a line of credit. I don’t get it, the system is broken.

InputZero,

Great advice! There is also the possibility that you’re just a night person someone may just be a night person. There’s a syndrome called Delayed Phase Sleep Syndrome which is a fancy way of saying your body prefers to sleep during the day and be active at night. If we didn’t live in a society that operates mostly during the day it wouldn’t be a problem, but that’s not how it works. There are people who I’ve worked nights with who I swear had this. They were happier and healthier on nights, they wanted to work nights. If that’s you, maybe look for a night shift job.

InputZero,

You like, believe that you can though man. That’s like belief is fact, man. /S

InputZero,

Whatever costume you choose this Halloween, make sure to wash it with Torgo’s Executive Powder. Torgo’s Executive Powder; when your costumes stinks like a Omicronian’s feet, only trust Torgo’s Executive Powder.

InputZero,

I’m just waiting on pope John Paul George, then we just gotta tack on Ringo somehow and we’ve got The Beatles back!

InputZero,

So this is my setup, and it’s pretty cost effective. I have two 2Tb HDDs that are striped and one 500Gb SSD that’s alone. The games I play the most live on my SSD, any games I’m not really playing live on the HDD. Then I just move my games from one to another. I didn’t even have the second HDD for the longest time. I don’t bother with using the SSD as a cache anymore. There is no advantage in gameplay to striping a game, however updates and moves are faster.

InputZero,

No you can’t go home again, but you can make a new home.

InputZero,

Only 12, c’mon now most of these guys are working 14 or more. You’re young, you should be putting in the hours. We’re really busy right now and we really need everyone to step up and do their part. Besides work ebes and flows, right now we have a lot but we won’t always.

/S if that wasn’t obvious. You only get one life, don’t sell it away.
