My very hyperbolic point was that most of us don’t subscribe to just one service. Pretty easy to subscribe to multiple of these and others like cloud backup services, car navigation, and other media like maybe even a news service. That’s a lot of subscriptions, and companies are trying to find even more ways to make us pay subscriptions. Everything from having to pay subscriptions to have parts of your car work to computer games. My point was a sarcastic take on how much we are being forced to subscribe to if we want to participate in what constitutes “normal” things these days.

what?

You call out ageism, then mention old hippies who don’t change their beliefs?

Dude, figure out what you mean.

RememberTheApollo_,

I’ve been to parts of Spain that have graffiti. Barcelona has plenty, Madrid is spotless - of course that depends on the part of town, too.

The point was that you can arrange pictures to look like whatever you want most of the time, not to actually criticize any one country.

I’ve done that on older battery packs. It’s a PITA because many packs are sealed, not screwed together, and you have to physically cut them apart to get to the batteries within for replacement. And assemble the batteries, which are often soldered in order. Then you gotta figure out how to reassemble the whole thing in a way that it won’t crack apart again. Doable, but definitely not for everyone.

Good to hear there’s honest people out there, and your husband listened to them, even if it means taking the hit on battery convenience.

RememberTheApollo_,

Can’t really compare cordless drills to circular saws, that’s apples and oranges. If you’re going to buy into a tool line (the only real reason is to avoid having to purchase multiple chargers and batteries, those are expensive) then pick the one that has the best tool(s) that you use the most often.

It isn’t rigid.

The soft G with the following i is common. There are exceptions to that rule, so it really isn’t always a rule.

Also, GIF is an initialism, and an initialism pronounced as a word becomes an acronym. I really don’t want to debate whether an acronym has to obey “real” word rules.

be fine with being wrong.

There’s also a reason why humans make judgments like these in the first place. They can be right.

But I didn’t say anything about a tomato!

(Yeah, I missed it)

RememberTheApollo_,

That’s certainly a risk one takes. FWIW I built mine with custom hard lines and fittings, and after the initial shakedown test, have had zero leaks in 6 years. YMMV, I guess.

I sincerely doubt this as some sort of random or unknown issue. It uses the exact same attach points as a stock cooler or even a good aftermarket cooler. None of those warp the mobo or gpu. Keeping the temperature extremes down should prevent warping, if anything. I’ve been through two WC motherboards and 3 gpus and have experienced zero warping.

The only thing I can offer is either the boards that do warp are cheaply made and unable to support the weight of a good waterblock or the installer is over-enthusiastic about securing it and does so too tightly and thereby causes the damage. My current waterblock has specific instructions regarding installation to prevent over-tightening and damage to the motherboard and components. IOW I suggest it’s an installer problem the vast majority of the time.

What’s with the meme /c’s getting all the mensrights/redpill stuff all of a sudden?

RememberTheApollo_,

AI video and content creator? Not sure why it’s on a meme/still image. Not familiar with it.

RememberTheApollo_,

Yeah, ditto…“Ok, just one more match…”

Why does he just say there’s five lights knowing there’s four so he can get out and start helping people who need him?

Because it’s an entertaining TV show that likes morality tales. Applying real-world logic to most any show would stop the show in the first 5 minutes.

Gamers who have gamed for a long time

do you find it difficult to get into games? I’ve got Epic Games and Steam Games libraries chock-full of classic top-tier games along with many other newer games like Stray or 2077, and a bunch of indie titles. I just can’t be bothered to download and install them, much less try to get into the characters and storylines. Used...

True. However, you’d be getting paid to do stuff like one square at a time, so that’s a job. Not just playing for fun.

Will human societies always enshittify themselves?

It seems society always goes down the shitter over and over following the same path. People rise to wealth and power extracted on the repression of the masses, massive disparity, ignorance exemplified, xenophobia and blaming minorities for any possible issue, laws signed with golden pens but becoming more meaningless when...

I don’t know if English is not your native language, but none of that makes sense.

Rome.

Look, don’t kill me over specificity. I wanted a general statement and cannot possibly name every avenue by which society collapses without being boringly pedantic, however I would suggest that “modern” Non-nomadic societies generally faced wealth concentration, disparity, and collapse at some point.

RememberTheApollo_,

Define “wise”.

There have been many victorious dictators that were idiots and killed millions of their own people out of fear, ignorance, or prejudice.
