davidgro,

Sounds like a good way to get hit by a bus

davidgro,

Not yet possible. Google hasn’t provided an API to access RCS from 3rd party apps. They did to Samsung’s messenger (1st party as far as their own phones), but as far as I know that is the only other one currently. (Verizon for a while had their own RCS implementation and infrastructure and their own messenger app could access it)

davidgro,

I generally agree with the message behind this sarcasm, but in this specific case OP really is learning the GNU utilities in particular (via Linux) so I don’t mind the extra nomenclature.

davidgro,

You’re certainly right about Multipass, but the grep included in Ubuntu does seem to be from GNU.

davidgro,

That’s exactly my answer to “Which carbonated soft drink is the worst?”

davidgro,

You know how it’s said that children are narcissists or psychopaths or whatever? I actually remember the moment that stopped being the case for me.

It must have been kindergarten, and we had a raffle style drawing in class. I knew I would win of course, I remember thinking that.

Then some other kid won. Blew my mind. It was at that moment that it really hit me that other people have fully independent lives and minds, just like mine, and the universe didn’t exist for my benefit. (Of course before that, if you had asked me I’m sure I would have said those things, but didn’t actually feel it intuitively until right then).

I feel like experiencing a loss (which wasn’t my own fault) was a very significant part of my mental development at that age, and I think it’s important for people to get that while growing up.

We can’t in fact all be winners. To quote a great philosopher:

“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.”

davidgro,

According to my mom, “Garbage Pail Kids” was this (besides the ‘game’ part of TCG)

davidgro,

Here is an entire novel (free online) written by a master at ‘what else could a given superpower do or cause?’

It’s an amazing read if you like the genre at all.
Just a warning, it gets very grimdark in a lot of places.

davidgro,

I would guess that you have seen the first episode of “The Boys”?

Anyway, option 1 is very clearly superior, even if incredibly boring, because it includes not becoming tired or hungry during the trip. You kinda would get to zone out for months at a time, like a super long scenic vacation.

davidgro,

Buy the key on Amazon and then you can change the settings to dispense more or automatically

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

davidgro,

Yup. That movie doesn’t even look like itself.

davidgro,

Depends if they are all doing so in the same room (or area if outdoors) at the same time. That’s missing from the quick overview summary that the image presents.

Interesting. I haven’t heard them called that, even though I’m in a state where most electricity is from hydro, And my state borders Canada.

Which items/products were you once able to get from local shops on a whim that you now more or less have to order online?

Sometimes I find myself shopping for things that I’d prefer to go out and get within the same day, but now I’d have to order and wait a few days to get…So I’m wondering what some of those things may be for you?

davidgro,

Jeans that fit me.

I’m not even that unusual of a size - just taller than most, and with weight gain I have actually entered easier to find sizes. (Used to joke that I could find lots of them that would fit if I could wear them rotated 90 degrees - switching the waist and inseam numbers)

So I used to be able to go to a department store and with a lot of searching, find some pairs and try them on to confirm that they fit.

Then it started getting scarce. On the final offline jeans shopping trip, I went to JC Penny and bought literally every pair of jeans they had in stock that fit me - about 10 pairs.

Now I would just have to buy online if I want any new ones (not counting specially shops)

davidgro,

One thing to point out, The floppy thing isn’t due to formatting, the units themselves were screwed up: It’s not 1.44 million bytes or 1.44 MiB regardless of formatting - they are 1440 kiB! (Which produces the raw size you gave) which is about 1.406 MiB unformatted.

The reason is because they were doubled from 720 kiB disks*, and the largest standard 5¼ inch disks (“1.2 MB”) were doubled from 600 kiB*. I guess it seemed easier or less confusing to the users then double 600k becoming 1.17M.

(* Those smaller sizes were themselves already doubled from earlier sizes. The “1.44 MB” ones are “Double sided double density”)

Blocked on lemmy.ml

(Probably)

davidgro,

Yes it is, and because of who owns it, I would even prefer that to an unsandboxed closed source native binary.

davidgro,

Wood is found in nature, so that would be ln, “log” is usually base 10.

davidgro,

The upper left dot is pretty close to at least 4 rainforests…

davidgro,

I once found 50 Rupees in some tall grass!

It was in my front yard (in the USA) and had a picture of Gandhi on it. Indian currency, not Hyrulian.

davidgro,

As one of those people, they might as well have said “Have you ever stubbed your toe and really enjoyed the feeling?”

davidgro,

The Seattle Mariners are the only team in the league to have never lost a World Series game
