The real story behind this is that someone stole his Lambo, so he had to testify in court about it. I guess the caption holds up.

GrammatonCleric, in Does mountain dew taste better than black tea? Yes. Does it also cost 30 times as much to get the caffeine fix? Yes.
@GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world avatar

Coffee wins every time, even if I have to pay $9+ for a goddamn bag 😭

ericbomb,

Embrace tradition, 100 tea bags for $4! Your ancestors fought for access to tea!

GrammatonCleric,

Bro, my ancestors dumped tea in protest 😅

ericbomb,

Because the tea was expensive! They fought for cheap tea!

Sabre363, in Fuckin' same.

Are they really so cheap that they want their shitty box back?

rustycheesi3,
@rustycheesi3@lemmy.world avatar

i thinks its about proper recycling, its nice if you dont have the environment to do it in the area in which you live. if you are able to, then its irrelevant.

Sabre363,

I feel like the cost of loading up a truck and return shipping it would very quickly outweigh the benefit of recycling unless it was done in bulk. Besides, if it was about recycling, then damage would be irrelevant.

rustycheesi3,
@rustycheesi3@lemmy.world avatar

some of them have collection boxes standing around, which only get emptied once a week or even less regularly. but yes, there is probably some like you described too.

7355608,

When I did shipping and receiving we did exactly that. We’d make bales of cardboard in our baleing machine and stack the bales in shipping container and sent it back. They paid the store like $20 bucks per bale.

Where I lived at the time all shipping containers came in and went out on the barge so filling them up vs having them empty was a negligible cost difference according to the shipping company.

    Your comment is equal measures funny and absurd to be honest. Please do explain how looking back on events, decisions made, etc to better frame modern happenings is so ridiculous.

    Diplomjodler,

    Nein, du kriegst dein Scheiß Fahrrad nicht zurück!

    pete_the_cat,

    Even though I studied German for years idioms and sentence structure still throw me off. I tried to translate that looking up only the words I didn’t remember and figured “dein Scheiss Fahrrad” was “your shit bike” and Kriegen is to catch (or get I guess in this context), so I was like “No, you catch your shit bike not back” doesn’t make sense grammatically in English, so I put it into Google Translate and it translated it as “No, you won’t get your damn bike back”. Maybe it’s because I learned High German and only ever used it in formal settings 95% of the time but it still throws me off, I have a hell of a time trying to understand spoken German because I don’t have the time to parse it mentally most of the time.

    Samsy,

    Germans have the same problem with english, too. Most of the time, I built the grammar in a sentence like I would do in german.

    pete_the_cat,

    Well to be fair, even native English speakers have problems with English. It’s a clusterfuck of a language. Learning German made me realize that more than I already did.

    Diplomjodler,

    Vocabulary in German is overall more logical than in English. But German grammar is very much a clusterfuck too.

    pete_the_cat,

    Agreed.

    Magnetar,

    In German is the word order simply different than in English. That stands in simple sentences not too much out, but if I, like now, try a sentence to build, that more complex and harder to understand is, will you that notice or in the worst case so much confused be that you it not understand can will.

    pete_the_cat,

    Sound like Yoda, you do. Hmmm.

    Magnetar,

    It is really not easy such to write, I must with violence the part of my brain suppress that the English grammar knows.

    noli,

    I had to translate this to german to understand… and I’m not even german

    HerbalGamer,

    in case you need context: German soldiers famously took dutch peoples bikes during the occupation in WW2

    pete_the_cat,

    Ah thanks, I didn’t no that.

    Johanno,

    VYTSKA, in HUP!

    The amount of massive excel sheets I’ve seen in various departments, when I was working as an office IT was ridiculous.

    Some people had to wait for 30 seconds with every minor change and that was “normal”.

    Excel != Database

    heird,

    I’ve worked for a massive corporation in which they had 300mb+ excel files they bought high specs computers just to have them load fast enough and searching would take 3 to 5 minutes we suggested that they’d try moving it to Microsoft access and the query became instant, I can’t imagine the hours wasted waiting for the queries to run

    ReadyUser30,
