ipkpjersi, in Not fair.

Thanks, I hate it.

Tankiedesantski, in Does it not pierce thine very heart?

In 150 years historians will be lamenting that we recorded everything we did and now they have to sift through terrabytes of memes, pointless arguments, and outright misdirection to get at anything resembling truth.

Shut up and take my money

SocialMediaRefugee, in Does it not pierce thine very heart?

Your brain deliberately forgets trivial stuff. Do you really need to remember every lunch you had? Same goes for all the mundane stuff in history.

On the other hand so little of the mundane stuff was recorded that when we do see it it can be a window into how people actually lived, like Samuel Pepys diary. The daily stuff was so accepted as boring and common knowledge that it wasn’t considered worth recording.

SomeAmateur,

And stuff like that is absolutely facinating to me, in small doses anyway. I keep a journal and I think I’ll write a few pages about what my routine is. At home on the weekend and at work.

“Active Shooter”

It’s like reading about a hurricane. Almost a weather phenomenon.

designatedhacker,

There are far fewer hurricanes. You also get a couple days warning on most weather events. I take your point though, between waking up to seeing a related push message and seeing this meme I had forgotten about it.

At least it appears nobody died, only 5 injured.

Tb0n3, in A greater sacrifice than you could possibly know

There’s introverts and then there’s extreme social anxiety. They’re not the same.

_number8_,

introversion & social anxiety are frequently comorbid for extremely obvious reasons. there’s no reason to gatekeep introversion.

Routhinator,
@Routhinator@startrek.website avatar

I’m just an introvert with ADHDand I agree with this meme. This is especially true after a long day of work. I do not have extreme anxiety or any anxiety in a social situation. I just find them exhausting.

CarterDarter,

I’m the exact same, except I also have terrible anxiety, so that covers both the control and the test… damn who knew this meme didn’t need gatekeepers?

RQG,
@RQG@lemmy.world avatar

True for me as well. After a day of peopleing having a phone call too is exalhausting. But on a day off doing a few calls is a non issue for me.

InputZero,

Oh sure, a lesson from Mr. I’m-my-own-grandpa.

deerdelighted,

As an introvert with pretty bad social anxiety, I have to say I’m glad I am not extraverted.

Draedron,

Yeah and the meme is about introverts.

Would you like to buy the single use plastic water to provide safe drinking water to people? No. How about make a donation to starving kids? No. How about buying these socks to support shelter for some country? No. Are you a member? No. Would you like to be a member? No.

Would you… “NO. JUST LET ME PAY FOR MY T SHIRT”

Jamie, in The nerve of these corporations
@Jamie@jamie.moe avatar

I’m not really offended by the asking for donations at the register thing, as long as those donations go 100% to the charity and it’s a good charity, then doing something to make it easy for people to contribute who wouldn’t otherwise take the time is ultimately a good thing.

The one that annoys me is where they match the donations. It feels like a method to guilt people into it by making their refusal to donate $1 into $2 not being donated.

Conyak,

I think it is completely inappropriate. Some people can barely afford to live and then have to feel shame and judged when they have to say no.

And you are ultimately going to die as part of that 90% that won’t be remembered for anything at all no matter how big of a deal you view yourself in any form function or manner.

Me too. It won’t be so bad. Unless they check the hard drive. Oh buddy then we’re historically remembered. Like, that’s a lotta porn.

7bicycles,

That ain’t special

grahamja,

The thought of having your digital foot print live on forever was kind of neat, but most of it wasn’t worth remembering or will probably get deleted after a few decades anyways. Future generations will ever know about the witty banter on yahoo answers.

TopRamenBinLaden,

Hey on the bright side, everybody in modern times has a pretty good chance to add a number to a statistic somewhere.
