The old Internet died when Reddit became “the front page of the Internet”

Torrenting in a nutshell! It can give out same error sometimes for incomplete file depending on the player used.

I don’t think that was the point of the post.

It was more “Never fall for a ‘things were good back then’ narrative because actually shit sucked even more in the past”

sooper_dooper_roofer, (edited )

aright cool nothing matters

minecraft

bastian_5, in I love piped bot

When it works I’ll use piped and shit, but half the time it doesn’t work lmao

XpeeN,

That’s has to do with the backend server that’ve been chosen at the preference page. Servers becomes unavailable all the time, and the frontend don’t change a server when it happens. Just choose a few servers that works well and you trust, and switch back and forth when needed.

TokyoMonsterTrucker,

It has never worked for me. On any platform. Not one time. I blocked that fucking bot months ago.

Holzkohlen,

Because it’s reliant on special servers. Just use Freetube or Newpipe, both handle the video extraction locally.

purple,

Locally? How is that private???

There’s a reason most historical fiction focuses on nobles and land-owners. You can tell interesting stories about them, and modern people can sort-of relate to their lifestyles. If you told stories about the common people, modern people wouldn’t be able to focus on the story, and would get distracted by how brutal and awful their day-to-day lives were.

pingveno, (edited )

Now fairy tales, that’s where the brutality comes in. Ever heard of “The Death of the Little Hen” collected by the Grimm brothers? The last line is, I kid you not, “and then everyone was dead”. Gotta get those kiddos used to pandemics and family sized tombstones.

ILikeBoobies, (edited )

Not really

You tell stories of people who could have it recorded and preserved

FluffyPotato, in Just no

This was the case when I checked out crunchyroll years ago, there were so many shows that didn’t have season 1 in my country and well the selection was abysmal to begin with.

Hiro8811,

The high seas are free matey

FluffyPotato,

Oh yea, streaming services have never had much of a selection in my country so the high seas are the only option and Plex combined with sickchill and couchpotato are a better user experience too.

It’s true, the past sucked even more than now, and now sucks too, but their clothes were prettier–

Kase,

God, their clothes were so pretty. I can read about the horrors of the past all day, but I’ll always be just a lil jealous of the clothes

pingveno,

You can always wear vintage clothing, you know.

Okay, but seriously? Dropping off is hard AF. If you can do that, you have my respect.

I’m reading The Way We Never Were and it’s amazing how much we get wrong about the good old days.

Ah the good ole days when children and infants were dying left and right, a splinter could mean a slow painful death by infection, and the local doctor prescribes drilling a hole in your head to release bad spirits

flop_leash_973,

Don’t forget the “bloodletting”. Got to get that bad blood out along with the head spirits.
