Seriously. Craisins = great. Raisins = bullshit bad wasted grape. Redeemable if they’re Raisinets or yogurt covered raisins. (I actually don’t hate raisins, but all of the other options are better by a mile.)
There’s pickles flavored ice cream, and it’s not bad. I tasted it at one of those 1000 flavors ice cream shops. People are really missing out if they think ice cream should only be diabetes flavored. Salted caramel, peanuts, sour and sweet flavors. They all work really well in ice cream form.
I swear, those (almost-)extremist-rightwing tossers are some kind of clones, remember Donald Trump, Geert Wilders and Boris Johnson? This guy fits right in.
When I was underprivileged, uneducated youth, I got sucked into football hooligan/neo-nazi circles and actually met some „high ranking nationalist party members“. Two brothers, same haircut as this dude, 300 pounds, 30 yrs old and still living with their mommy in a smoke filled, dirty apartment with a giant swastika flag in the living room.
Thats what got me out of fascist circles. I was so shocked that people looked up to these morons.
This actually led to my belief that fascists actually mostly are uneducated and unloved people who get exploited by psychopaths. Those would one would need to take out (by legal means, naturally).
I’ve flown on AA’s international business and first class. The difference is negligible in terms of the seats and most people in them were complimentary upgrades since they couldn’t fill the seats.
The bigger differences were on the ground with the dining and check in. So all AA is doing is creating a “Business Plus” category that gets you the first class amenities on the ground and then a business class seat. This lets them put more business class seats on the plane and open things up to a bigger revenue stream.
AA first has been a joke for a long time. It was an ever so slightly better seat and they served one extra course - a soup - but was otherwise identical to business class service. You can’t charge thousands more for soup.
First class has been dying for years - and the only airlines that will do it, it’s really a prestige thing more than a profit center.
AA is the last United States based airline to even have one. This move is an industry-wide trend now that lie-flat business class seats are standard. Business class has gotten much nicer in the past 10 years and taken away the customers that previously would have flown in first.
I’d rather fly Qatar qsuites or many other si-enclosed business class seats than the first class ones remaining on European airlines like British Airways, Lufthansa, of air France. And doing so is a fraction of the price.
People are out to lunch on this whole situation. Try running a service that hosts somewhere between 2 and 3 billion Gigabytes of data. Where basically anyone on the planet can upload gigs of video and YouTube will still make it available 10 years later. You are never going to crowd source that, ever. I also pay for premium and I get at least 5x the value of any other streaming service. Just on home renovations, it’s probably saved me 10k+ being able to watch tutorials about every kind of repair.
I’m very curious about why YouTube allow users to upload what seems like unlimited footage in 4K HDR and keep it around indefinitely. Only guess is they don’t want to miss out on the next big YouTuber. I upload a lot of video for very few views. There is no way in hell that Google make money from my account.
Youtube can show ads and offers subscription without being this shitty though. Just look on how popular region-specific video services like niconico (japan) or bilibili (china) operate. They also have ads and subscription, but nowhere as crazy as google adding multiple video ads upon ads and pick a fight with ad blocker users (which used to be a minority when google haven’t aggressively pushed more and more ads. the current popularity of adblockers today is google’s own doing). This is only possible because google has killed off competitors in those market and now it’s time for cashing out.
The best part is: Youtube doesn’t even do any of that. It’s the creators that try to keep other streams off the web, because they wanna drive traffic to their own channel.
The problem is that they actually don’t mean that. And truthfully I don’t mind the idea of paying for video hosting, that shit’s expensive, but YouTube is going about it in the worst way possible.
Do you mean the actual video buffer or the page’s loading time? Because they made it take 5~ seconds longer to load on Firefox when they started going after adblockers and my filter that replaced it with 0.0001 (or whatever) seconds hasn’t been working for a little bit.
This idea that nobody on the internet is willing to pay for anything is outdated. Most people know that if it’s not money, they’re paying in data, time and/or attention. I much prefer paying with money, as do most people that use Proton, Kagi and other paid alternatives to free Google products.
Right. Some people get stuck up about getting things for free that they think they should get for free.* But a lot of the problem is the obnoxious ways companies go about control and profit.
*There are important arguments to be had about freedom, still.
I highly recommend the book series! There are enough differences from the show to keep it fresh, AND the story in the books goes much further then the show got to.
I’ve read the first book of the series after watching the whole show, but I found it less interesting than the show - does it get better with the next ones?
Yes. I watched the whole series before starting the books and I found the books to be much, much better once I got to the part that the series hadn’t touched.
The problem is that the plot is close enough to the books that you know what’s coming, but the characters and details are enough that it’s still worth reading the books. But it is a slog if you’ve seen the series first.
Yeah, I don’t you’d like the rest of the series then. I was completely hooked, but I listened to the audio books first and ended up not liking the show as much as the books. I think it’s more about what you experienced first. My big issue with the show is, they changed a bunch of characters, took some characters and combined them into one. A good example is Bobby wasn’t amazonian in stature, and I missed some of the technical details like needing crash couches in order to account for changing directions.
Absolutely. You’re forced through a slower burn in the books that is hard to appreciate until you’re many more books down.
The show packed in the political intrigue and other elements earlier because it better fit the format, whereas on the books you first go through Holden and Miller’s PoV and throughout their different perceptions get introduced to the setting.
Then the 2nd and 3rd books bring in a deeper view of those other political points of view. It then pats you for now having all of the info you need.
Then it straps you into a jump seat and hits the juice with a few random stops and sudden decelerations before boosting off again for the remainder of the 8 books and novellas.

Just wanted to let you know I’ve had these books on my “to-read” stack for a few years now, and your comment got me to start reading them yesterday. They’ve already got me hooked, so thanks for the nudge!
I’m so glad I could positively impact someone! I listen to audio books like a fiend, while cleaning, during laundry, during running and biking. But The Expanse books were the only books I’d be so hooked I’d listen to them while eating dinner instead of watching a show.
