I remember someone once writing "I could be rich if I invented a way to stab someone in the face through the Internet!" or something along those words.
Don’t forget to block the invisible element that covers the whole screen. They add it after a few videos to try and stop video playback but any half tech savvy person would notice it.
It’s easy to spot. Prevents you from clicking and in the element picker, covers up the whole website.
It will still prevent you from scrolling. To shut THAT down you need to go fullscreen and back out. Pressing F twice is a fast way to do it.
Overall these are only temporary solutions. Keeping your adblock up to date (uBlock origin gets updated daily to combat YouTube’s shitty scripts) is the only foolproof way.
Consider this. They’re used to a better product with less ads.
YouTube used to be a higher quality platform with more customisation options (did you know back in the day you could design your own Tumblr esque blog page as your channel page?) And a lot of things were added that cut costs alongside poor moderation and the black hole that is YouTube kids eating up content. Not to mention that nothing is done about content stealing content farms.
Damn if only there was an IPA build for iOS. Guess I’ll use this on my SHIELD. This is helpful since I see YouTube eventually going for users accounts to coerce them to disable their adblocker out of fear for their account.
EDIt: I do not see a ATV version yet so I’ll have to wait
I don’t really think there is a special relationship any more.
Iraq war aside, there hasn’t really been much of a relationship. Brexit helped destroy this, because we’re now a tiny country begging for trade deals with nothing other than a weak pound and cheap labour to offer, with zero desire to engage with the US’s poor food standards and heavily privatised healthcare industry. Biden has been closer to Ireland, if anything, and probably for good reason.
What is very surprising is that the US hasn’t engaged in a trade deal to install parts of their tech infrastructure here, or to allow US students cisa options to live/stay here, given the UK has world-class universities. Pair this with a UK-specific visa akin to what Australia has with the US, and it gives benefits to both sides.
The special relationship was always a bit of a meme here in the UK anyway. Tony Blair was Bush’s lapdog, because it kept him looking powerful.
Ugh… Went to an outdoor swimming pool this spring for the first time in years. Decided to dry up in the sun instead of toweling off. Laid down in the grass for 10, maybe 15 minutes, got slowly covered in ants. The next day I discovered I had a tick. Took me a while to go swimming again…
