I’ve read a couple of Dean’s books and I don’t regret it, but also didn’t find them that good.
Outside a couple of disappointments, everything I’ve read from King has ranged from really good (Salems lot, tommyknockers, etc) to outstanding (the dark tower series, the tailsman).
One of my neighbors named their daughter “Stormy” after Odd Thomas’s >!dead!< girlfriend. When I asked him if he and his wife were big fans of the books, he said that they’d never read the books before. But they’d seen the movie.
He told me this several years ago and it still annoys me to this day.
Odd Thomas annoys be to no end. He’s a Mary Sue in the worst way. He succeeds at literally everything he does. It’s extremely lazy. Oh and he’s “quarky”.
I’ve read a lot of Koontz books. If you just think of them like TV movies they’re fine.
Looks like some weird artifact. The original author deleted all his original tweets back in October, so I can’t find the original; but he did retweet Stephen King’s quote tweet of someone else’s tweet of a screenshot of his original tweet (wow I hate that sentence) and that screenshot doesn’t have this artifact in it.
They match up so exactly that I’m pretty convinced this has to have originally been the same image, just mangled by some sort of an uploader or something.
Came across this game too. I took a peek in the discussions for the game and oh boy was that a trip. I’d suggest making some post in there about his court cases or something. IMO steam probably shouldn’t allow anything about jones on their storefront period.
On the bottom right of the page, next to “Share” and “Embed,” there’s a flag icon. Click it, and you can report the product. I figured “Defamatory” was a likely category…
If only most wet wipes weren’t non-flushable (even if they say they are, many are in fact not) and terrible for the environment. Still have to find a good brand.
Old internet to me is straight up pointlesswasteoftime.com, which eventually got absorbed by Cracked like a cheap suppository after David Wong (aka mediocre comedy writer Jason Pargin) sold out. That was in 2007. And now Cracked is functionally a content graveyard.
It got bought out by the company that owns KnowYourMeme, ebaumsworld, and the “I can has cheezeburger?” website in 2019. That’s pretty much all you need to know.
I’ve actually got a few really cool things coming together in my life. Job is going well. Back on the bicycle as soon as it warms back up. Back in the gym now. Another “supplement” cycle upcoming. Just bought a house. The podcast went from 0 to several thousand downloads a month in 1 year. Starting a non profit that has a huge interest in donations already. May start twitch streaming for fun.
From what I’ve heard on the grapevine (I also don’t watch his stuff), his channel really declined in quality past 2019, and it just hasn’t been the same.
If the 4 hour long hbomberguy video is to be believed, the Angry Video Game Nerd channel (?) got bought by a company that turned it into something of a content mill. And there’s some plagiarism involved.
He signed up with one of those media management companies to help him promote and produce content. He mostly did it because he wanted to spend more time with his family, because he’s not really a gamer and has been running out of games he played as a kid, and because he’s kind of inept, to be honest. He made a behind the scenes video that showed just how ramshackle his workflow is.
Anyway, once he got that company involved, they injected themselves into his videos as well as write and edit, nand everyone was wondering who “these fat slobs” were? They just appeared with no introduction. The quality of his content took a nosedive around this time. They also started adding all sorts of new content, like rental reviews and podcasts that all died out very quickly due to lack of interest (and because they were mostly centered around the slobs rather than James). You could also tell James wasn’t very interested in any of it.
Anyway there’s more to it, but that’s the big stuff.
ryan gosling is (probably jokingly) the mascot of depressed memes because he was pretty sad in blade runner, and it’s probably similar with the oppenheimer dude, because he made some funny faces in the movie.
where would anyone be asking for the new fridge to be dropped off? at home after you just bought it somewhere? or you’re going to donate it just after purchasing it? or you got someone a fridge as a gift?
From what I looked up it means something like dude or mate. It’s also used when expressing suprise? If native speaker has better insight I’d appreciate it.
The English “Yo” is a really good translation. You can use it to express surprise (“Alter! Wtf!” - “Yo! Wtf!”) or to address someone (“Alter, was geht?” - “Yo, whats up?”).
“Yo” really is the best translation I can think of.
