Ew… like, all alone, with nothing else in the dishwasher at all, and a rinse cycle in-between that and other things that you plan to eat off of?

Even then, it seems inefficient to me. Also, why would those even need to be cleaned - do you plan on eating off of those?!? They get “cleaned” well enough by going into the toilet - no need for more?

linearchaos,
@linearchaos@lemmy.world avatar

I’m surprised the market isn’t absolutely filled with UV toilet brush cleaners.

ricecake,

Usually I clean the toilet with soap and the brush, and then occasionally clean the brush by cleaning the toilet like normal, flushing, and putting a stronger antimicrobial (looks like bleach but isn’t, since they don’t sell it as much anymore due to the danger it has around the house) on the brush and then rinsing it in the toilet and flushing again.

Mostly I don’t want it to stink. It’s bad if anyone has cause to notice the toilet brush tucked almost behind the toilet. Same for the plunger.

@0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works avatar

Meeh, I do clean them from time to time. They do become very dirty after a while and it shows since they’re white. Not really often, like once a year, but still.

@OpenStars@startrek.website avatar

Great! But uh… the more distance between them and things I eat off of, imho, the better! :-P

Just like Skibidi Toilet, simply b/c you can do something, does not mean that you should.

Delphia,

You take that shit back right now or Ill wash your mouth out with an uncleaned toilet brush!

Skibidi Toilet is fucking brilliant for what it is. Its like an abstract arthouse scifi film made with free tools. It somehow made me laugh, cheer and feel creeped out. Ive seen worse content made by serious movie studios. Its amazing to watch the whole.thing and see the creators skills come along throughout.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

How do you clean them? I’m not sure how I’d even do it.

0x4E4F, (edited )
@0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works avatar

You take the bowl in which it resides, you clean that with… whatever, soap, shampoo, dishwashing liquid. Use a dish sponge from the rough side, gets the best results 👍. Then, you fill that up with some hot water and pour some soap/shampoo/dishwashing liquid in that and start stirring that with the toilet brush, just grinding it in there. You do that for about a minute, it should be shiny as new.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Thanks. I’ve never thought of doing this. My brush is disgusting lol

CobblerScholar, in are you sure?

Confidence in yourself takes work. Confident people are confident because they loved themselves first and you take care of those you love

Kedly,

Sure real confidence does, but fake confidence is a good step on that path, and is better than none at all

starchylemming,

nah you start by faking it and being ironically confident until you trick yourself and it becomes second nature. replace self deprecating humor with god complex humor until you believeeeee

I mean, 6 of one. If you feel better and aren’t a total dick to everyone I think that’s a win

Caboose12000,

SomethingBurger,

Confident people are confident because they are handsome, therefore their advances work more often than not, leading to more confidence.

Confidence is not what makes someone attractive, it’s the other way around.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

True confidence is the assurance that who you are is good enough, not that you’re perfect and need no improvement, but that if you’re doing your best to respect other people that you deserve the same.

If your “confidence” changes based on how others treat you, then it’s not truly self-esteem but rather pride and ego.

ABoxOfPhotons, in Americans will measure with anything but the metric system.

The irony is that in the US, Metric is the standard, used by all science, military, governmental etc sectors. It’s just that the average American is too insecure to acknowledge this fact.

ABoxOfPhotons,

Yep, how can the “greatest nation on earth” use a system that inferior countries do…

betheydocrime,

Yep, the US military operates on metric time

Rato,

The US Navy is an exception, and doesn’t use metric. Even their nuclear stuff uses the English Engineering System (Mostly imperial units.).

dacreator,

Insecure about what? Which side of the tape measure to use? Honestly I don’t think many Americans are or were ever made aware that metric is the standard.

sxan,
@sxan@midwest.social avatar

Everyone who has ever served in any branch of the US military knows this fact.

In 2020, US gvmnt estimates were 19.4m living vets in the nation. With a population of around 331m, that’s around 6%. If you include the number of non-vets civilians who’s jobs directly support the military, and who therefore are also required to use metric in their jobs, this number will be higher - I couldn’t find population estimates, but it’s at least a couple percent as the DoD alone employs a million civilians. NASA employs around 17k, and anyone working for a company who works with NASA is going to have to use metric. I’d be shocked if the number of Americans who aren’t having to use metric at work, and are therefore aware that it’s a standard here, wasn’t at least 10%.

Nowhere near a majority, but certainly significant; over 20m people warrants “many,” surely?

prettybunnys, (edited )

This is utter horseshit. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that fact probably just didn’t know and you’re just projecting some “I’m better than you” nonsense.

We learn the metric system in our schools. It’s part of our curriculum. We learn it in math classes, we learn it in science classes, we learn about it in history classes as well.

The UK drives using MPH too, despite the metric system being the standard. Oh nooooo! An alternate measurement system that the masses understand and accept!

For what it is worth, if you were curious, NIST adopted and recommends the SI standard.

However what IS fun is the world adopting US customary measures intertwined with metrics units for new measurements that weren’t used before, electrical current/resistance stuff like that. **Though, good luck getting anyone who likes to try to dunk on the USA like this to admit it.**Any American who responds how you’re saying is just pissed that once again someone is trying to look down their nose at us for living our fucking lives.

ABoxOfPhotons,

That really hurt you didn’t it…

csm10495, in Damn freeloaders takin' all the jobs!
@csm10495@sh.itjust.works avatar

Actually both happen: low paying jobs lead to being below the poverty line and therefore eligible for welfare.

It’s not great; especially when companies like Walmart cash in on this by paying less and telling employees to apply for welfare.

orrk,

if a job can’t feed you, it should not exist…

unrelatedkeg,

If an employer can’t ‘afford’ to pay you properly he shouldn’t run a business.

bluewing,

While that’s a nice sentiment that I agree with, you need to remember that those low paying jobs illegal immigrants often take, still pay far more than they could ever hope to make back home. Add to the low to nonexistent job skills and language issues, they start from far, far behind the eightball.

Having worked with large number of illegals back in the day, I found the vast majority to be quite genuinely nice people and co-workers. And they were some of the hardest workin’ sumbitches you would ever be around.

What I found interesting was the friction between the second and younger generations of Tex/Mex families and the newly arrived Mexicans, (I use Mexican to denote the actual country of origin here - sad that I need to do so). The first generation immigrants were very religious and conservative. While the second generations often adopted the more liberal attitudes of the locals. It caused a lot of ill undercurrents between the two groups.

orrk,

ok, but we can’t just let people be underpaid because it’s more than people make in, and excuse me for using this term, third world shithole that barely has water infrastructure (I’m looking at you Serbia).

bluewing,

Sadly, it’s a chicken and egg situation. You can’t get a better job because you have no skills employers will pay more for. And you can’t very easily find a way to get those skills because you would get deported because you are somewhere illegally.

It makes for a complicated problem to solve. And I don’t have an answer other than to say that it’s on the first generation to make it so the following generations climb the ladder upwards.

orrk,

you somehow managed to make national wealth inequality into a strictly personal issue.

so the solution is: you stop pretending like these people are all evil, let them work in America, but also force employers to pay a proper wage.

it’s also hilarious to pretend like Guatemalans coming to the US to work farms and construction are learning skills to get better pay back home.
