Can we please pretty please name a bird officially Haught-Breasted Milph?

MrMamiya, in I lose mine last month :(

You guys don’t have eSIM yet?

skqweezy,

I can’t wait until more manufacturers adopt this standard and then force us to help every damn person in the family (or even more!) transfer stuff to a new phone, like my mom doesn’t even understand how Google accounts work and that they exist to >!steal your data cough cough!< help you transfer stuff to a new phone, she just makes a new one every time, and yes she does everything by hand, transfering photos, contacts, every damn thing

And best thing that everyone has a different upgrade standards, so you could deal with this the newest phone that has this launches or you could too 8 years in the future

XTornado,

Wtf? She does a new one… That takes more effort… My mother couldn’t do that.

skqweezy,

Every android phone oobe (at least the cheap ones) say to create or log in to a google account (idk if you can even skip this part) and inputting your name and letting it add a few numbers after it (not even mentioning her writing the password to a calendar, like a physical paper one, in the living room) is stupidly easy

drislands,

My man!

littlecolt,

React culture is fucking cancer. People can’t just enjoy things, they need to know how others react and if they are enjoying as well. I feel like I knew this before YouTube react channels were a thing. I had a friend that used to turn and look at my face CONSTANTLY when we were watching stuff, especially if he’d seen it before. It got obnoxious. He’d turn his head, I’d notice it in my peripheral vision and know something was about to happen in the show/movie. It’s like he was addicted to seeing people’s reactions.

Anyone who speaks against Israel in this “fight”: Cancelled. And it’s gotten so you don’t even need to say the magic word: “antisemite”.

God forgive me, but maybe the “Jews rule the world” nuts weren’t so wrong after all.

Banking, Hollywood, Ivy League schools, major journalists and news outlets, my own President, all of them pro-Israel no matter what.

Show me I’m wrong, stop me, take my beer away, come over to my house and punch me in the face, but get me off this conspiracy train. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen the fruitcakes come so close to truth.

    WaxedWookie,

Maybe, just maybe it’s an alignment of ideology and geopolitical interests across the ruling class rather than genetics.

Maybe Jews were pushed into usury, maybe they’re over-represented in certain spaces like Ivy League schools because they’re wealthier on average, which buys a better education and more opportunities, perpetuating that wealth and success.

Pretty much anything the Nazis blame on Jewish genetics can easily be boiled down to class intetests without the weird blood libel conspiracism and insistence everyone they don’t like is a Jew.

    shalafi, (edited )

Of course it’s political! Of course it’s not genetic! FFS, I’m not retarded.

How about “Israelites” are running shit in a shadowy conspiracy? That tastes almost as foul in my mouth. But I can sure see where the nuts are coming from.

And see where you’re going with this? Anti-Nazi and racism talk. I’m neither a Nazi nor a racist, and you can check every post I’ve ever made, here or on reddit (/u/shalafi71). Every single one. Go back 11-years on reddit if you like.

But see how the conversation went that way when I started talking about Israel and Jews? And to be clear; I do NOT wish to conflate the two. But it’s easy to see how many (most?) folks do?

Jews were pushed into usury, maybe they’re over-represented in certain spaces like Ivy League schools because they’re wealthier on average, which buys a better education and more opportunities, perpetuating that wealth and success

Any anyone joining this discussion, read that over and over again, because it’s true and that’s how it worked out. We decry this sort of thing, uh, usually, but it’s OK because the Jews have been the underdogs for 2,000+ years? Maybe? I’ve always been a cheerleader for Jews and Israel. I really don’t know what to think anymore.

To get back on point, here’s what I’m seeing, when my eyeballs can get past the in-your-face genocide:

Got any sort of influence in the 1st world? Spoken against Israel lately? Still got a job? Yes, yes, no.

Anything in that last sentence strike anyone false?

    ParsnipWitch,

Sorry but that’s bullshit. There are plenty of people who speak out against Israel (for example in Germany, of all places) who still hold their job. So there. Your anti-semitic theory of Jews from Israel secretly shadow controlling all governemnts is refuted.

Btw, when your theory is correct how come the media doesn’t cover the bombing of Israel by Gaza and Lebanon? Most people don’t even know it’s happening.

When your theory is true, how come that UN can be biased against Israel and no one is doing anything about it? The UN found that 40 % of all Human rights violations since 2006 (!) have supposedly taken place in Israel. With competitors like China, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan that raised quite a few eyebrows but no one has done anything about it.

Also, simply to bring in some statistics, there are 16.1 million Jews worldwide. And 9.37 million Israelis. No one cares for this tiny minority unless they are battling extinction again.

What is more likely is that A you wish there was an easy answer, like one side has to be the bad one.

And B you are falling hard for propaganda. Propaganda is one of the only weapons groups like Hamas have in their arsenal. And it’s not just Hamas who have an interest in Israel being gone. Add every other Islamic state into that mix.

I don’t know which news sides you use but use some fact checkers as well. They aren’t perfect but here is a US based list: guides.lib.berkeley.edu/c.php?g=620677&p=4333…

Also, when you start doubting media, I found this quite important: stratcomcoe.org

This is NATO analysis of strategies used by several organisations and countries.

    stratcomcoe.org/publications/…/87

Here you can find a PDF that explains how Hamas is using human shields and what media coverage has to do with their strategy in particular.

Germans please stop projecting your guilt for attempting to colonize and exterminate your way across Asia onto the people resisting a colonizing force.

    ParsnipWitch,

That’s because you ignore everything that has happened in Palestine unless it’s connected to Israel.

It has nothing to do with “Jews controlling the world” or other conspiracy theories. It’s that when you are living in a “western” culture you are more aligned with the culture of Israel (women’s rights, rights for LGBTQ people, at least the hope for democracy, protection of citizens instead of using them as propaganda tools, etc.).

That is why many western politicians and media rather reluctantly call out Israel on it’s war crimes.

Imagine when what many seem to wish comes true and Israel is abolished. The whole area becomes Palestine. Then we will have another country where people suffer under a religious zealot leadership. No rights for women or LGBTQ, no schools that educate their children to become free thinkers, no democracy or working for a better future, etc.

    en.prolewiki.org/…/Central_Intelligence_Agency#Bl…

“Blowback” is a CIA term first used in March 1954 in a now declassified report on the 1953 operation to overthrow the government of Mohammed Mossadegh in Iran. It is a metaphor for the unintended consequences of the US government’s international activities that have been kept secret from the U.S. public.[30]

One example of blowback is the CIA’s financing and support for the Mujahideen to fight an anti-Communist proxy guerrilla war against the USSR in Afghanistan. The Mujahideen would later become Al Qaeda which would commit the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Due to the CIA’s function as an anti-communist organization, it typically relies on right-wing groups to achieve its policy goals, either by latching on to and supporting pre-existing anti-communist groups and leaders or helping to create them. This leads to the spread of fascism, terrorism, and increased instability in regions where the CIA has used their influence, even after the CIA has ceased actively using them to achieve specific goals.

Yeah bro, those dead Gazan kids agree with you. The Israelis seem pretty indiscriminate. Hamas was too, which is why the whole situation makes me sick.

Should Hamas be hunted down like dogs? Yep.

Should you blow up hospitals to get at them? Nope.

Should you kill 10x the civilians your attackers did? Nope.

you’ve got to be a gymnast to land the mental backflip to suggest that Israel’s response is reasonable. If the tables were turned, I’d be just as outraged.

    Poteryashka,

No, you don’t get it. You know, there’s all these details and context and it’s so much more complicated than that. To put it the way you did is just so simplistic and misses the point. /s

    Imgonnatrythis,

Ok, so some basic guidelines for the acute scenario. What’s your answer to living right next to your mortal enemies for eternity and one of the teams isn’t even a nation state? Historically many such responses weren’t quite so half assed and were acutely devastating but prevented such future skirmishes by eliminating Nation-states. In the era of organized terrorism, eliminating nations doesn’t necessarily solve problems. It’s Such an ugly mess. If you think rational decisions are going to be made during flare ups with decades of underlying tension, you are not considerding the big picture well enough. I don’t have the answer, but I’ll always come down hard on terrorism as it’s exempt from many of the diplomatic pressures that have been proven to establish contractual civility at least.

    lolcatnip,

Isn’t it weird how so many Palestinians hate Israel for absolutely no reason?

    medgremlin,

Let’s rewind to the part where you look at why they are mortal enemies, and realize that the same problem is still happening in the West Bank at the same time as the mass murder in Gaza.

    Count042, (edited )

Don’t intentionally drive them out of their homes in an ethnic cleansing and steal their fucking land and kill them off every couple of years like ‘mowing the grass’.

Maybe don’t slaughter them when they try non violent protests.

Maybe don’t have an apartheid state that south Africans that suffered under an apartheid state described as being worse than South Africa.

Oh, while we’re on that topic, maybe don’t give weapons to south Africa when the rest of the world is boycotting them for their evil, or test nuclear weapons with them?

Maybe don’t try to ethnically cleanse your neighbors?

Sadly, I know all of those were apparently too much to ask.

    Splenetic,

Unfortunately we can’t condense 75years of modern Israeli/Palestinian history into a 2 panel Simpsons meme to explain that, yes Krusty Burglar is evil but Homer had previously committed several atrocities of his own including the rape and murder of The Burglar’s family and is now throwing grenades into the audience because they didn’t do enough to stop the Burglar.

But this is justified by the Simpson’s religious/cultural beliefs, themselves formed in response to violence and trauma committed by others, and funded by the religious fanaticism of the Flanders family who believe the Burgler has to die to usher in the end times.
