I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I have lived with a persistent background anxiety for my whole life, and only in the last year have I started treating it (in my 40’s). It hasn’t solved all my problems, but it does mean I’m not constantly jittery. If you’re already treating your anxiety, then I can only wish you luck and success.
Which one? Gold was $20.67 per Troy ounce in 1920, that’s about $664.55 per kilo. 10 kilos about $6,645.55 I’m believing the first search result countryliving.com/…/what-things-cost-100-years-ag… says that matches up. Gold is about $64,900 per kilo today so $649,000 for 10 bars, that’s a low cost of living middle class place or HCOL very small house that needs renovation. I could see you meaning these days and houses in some areas are in the $6 million range, guess they should be location specific.
Yeah I was going to say Upper Middle Class but I’ve seen some dumpy houses for those prices and it’s really titled by if you bought when interest rates were low vs the last year or so.
Jesus. Got my house 7-years ago on a Habitat for Humanity mortgage, for which you pay cost. ~85K? Also, no interest on the loan. Also, no property tax.
3-bed/2-bath/80’x200’ lot/1,140sq. ft. living space/$550mo.
Call your local Habitat chapter, go to the next meeting and learn. Keep going with the program if you can. Took my ex-wife and I 14-months, start to finish.
I can’t tell you the qualifications, they change and are different from one area to the next. I can give you some basic answers, at least I’ll try.
At what age are you supposed to know what you want for the rest of your life? You will never have an answer to that in any capacity, and not just in marriage. You evolve as a person, you’ll never have a fixed desire for your whole life. And that’s the great thing about marriage and relationships, they also evolve. And it’s about who you want to try doing that with
I see/hear about marriages started at 30+ 40+ 50+ all the time that fail. I see people pivot careers and industries in the middle years of their life. People tastes change all the time as they get older. Let’s not pretend that when your brain finishes developing you suddenly have life figured out/know exactly what you want
I generally agree that getting married before 24 is a pretty risky move and you have to have thought it through very carefully, but the argument that “you don’t know what you want for the rest of your life” is not the reason why that is. It relates more to life experience/emotional capability/massive foresight. Marriage is more than just “wanting something for the rest of your life”, it’s a commitment, it’s not just some eternal desire you may/may not have
I feel like it might come from the fact most relationships are pretty short before you are 24. Few people hold onto long lasting relationships by that age and few (at the time) short ones develop into anything reliable.
A former classmate of mine met a guy and got married after knowing him almost a year, like right out of highschool. Last I heard of her they went through a messy divorce couple of years later, which we all saw coming and tried telling her about.
That sounds more like an issue with that person not being open/receptive to her peers advice. And I think this is true for many people beyond the age of 24 as well
If we make it to 24 that’d be 8 years of dating and id feel bad not marrying her by then. My only caveat is I want to be out of college by the time we marry tbh
I’ll probably still go to grad school but I’d atleast like my BS
That’s what we did, it just turned out that we were together for 7 years before everything fell in to place. We got out of college, got our careers in order, and bought a house. Then married the next year.
And then there’s Brassica oleracea, where it’s not even a family, but one single species that brings us a heap of classic veggies including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, and gai lan. If you expand to its family you can add turnip, bok choy, radish, wasabi, as well as the majority of source vegetables in the eponymous “vegetable oil”.
Damn. I didn’t understand the joke the above user was making and was hoping that by understanding why it’s a switcheroo I could understand the original joke. But now I’m no closer than where I started.
That’s an existential crisis I’ve had after starting to eat vegan. Suddenly everything in your cupboard is a plant, with the exception of salt and sometimes mushrooms.
It’s just like: I’ll now eat this noodle-shaped plant with this pureed plant and this protein-rich plant and I’ll also throw in some tasty plant shreds. Maybe I should also have some plant leaves with a dressing out of plant oil, fermented plant juice and this plant seed paste.
But then I realized that meat, eggs, cheese, milk, and even mushrooms, they’re all just processed/digested plants, too. So, there’s only plants and salt. Which really didn’t make the existential crisis any better, but at least we’re all in it together. 🙃
All beings, including us, are descendants of the first single-celled being that appeared on Earth billions of years ago. We share 75% of our DNA with a potato (some people which I know, even more)
For what it’s worth, though I don’t think I’ve ever had them in any form, I’ve heard that the poor reputation of Brussels sprouts is due to the popular way of cooking them in the '30s through '80s being to boil the shit out of them. They’re supposed to be quite good if you cook them the right way.
In total war Warhammer, when playing as Karl Franz, what was the phrase that the advisor said as soon as the game began, when you had to deal with the secessionists at the south? Open dissent will not be tolerated or something? I thought of that when reading this post for some reason xD lol lmao
Hell if I know, actually :( I just play the total war games. I think there are some books and other games from the fantasy franchise, if I recall my time taking a look at the lore using YouTube videos.
pihole uses the same method of blocking as adguard dns but is more configurable, and since it’s usually self-hosted you have full control over it.
btw, nextdns is pretty good too (think of it as a managed configurable, slightly more private alternative to adguard dns, great if you’re not into self hosting).
it lacks custom domain blocklists tho. you can add your own white/blacklisted domains but not whole lists, except ones provided by nextdns.
also, it’s a paid service. free tier includes 300k requests per month, which is enough for ~1.5 devices from my experience.
Not going to try to change your mind about this opinion, but I’ll take a stab at shaming you for being so vocal about a thought that is very much “othering”. Maybe turn down the judgement a bit, you don’t know people.
What’s truly insane is people who marry under 20. And if you think it’s possible to know who you are and what you want at that age, you have a very simplistic view of the world. Or you’re brainwashed by those who reared you, ie you have a very simplistic view of the world.
