DigitalTraveler42, to memes in So that's it, huh? We're some kind of Suicide Squad?

This first Suicide Squad was hot garbage, the second was awesome.

Odo,

The Extended Cut version of the first movie is actually an okay time. It boggles the mind anyone would think it’s a good idea to pull every bit of backstory and subplot and give us the mess of a theatrical version we got.

Strawberry,

I didn’t know there was an extended cut. I’m so intrigued now, given that a huge issue with the theatrical version was its editing

DigitalTraveler42,

There’s always a Snyder cut…

Potatos_are_not_friends,

The second one should have just been called something else.

Every DC fan I knew had such a bad taste in their mouth for that Will Smith Suicide Squad.

DigitalTraveler42,

That’s the beauty of the Suicide Squad, they die or escape or there are other teams, so they can wipe out the whole cast without hesitation because it fits into the plot constraints.

JoMiran,
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

Will Smith’s compulsive need to never be the bad guy didn’t help.

No one wants a hug from Alexander. He was thinking of Troi. Possibly Gowron.

I bet Gowron gives amazing hugs.

When Gowron hugs you, it means you’re both about to do something very risky, and potentially very stupid

I’ll throw it here just for the sake of irony… (and so that I don’t leave you hanging).:-D

I haven’t watched all of them but the animated Suicide Squad movies have been pretty good.

Perfide,

DC’s direct to video animation department consistently puts out absolute bangers, so that’s not surprising. It’s the live action stuff where they continuously drop the ball.

So Snyder?

While usually true, I can’t help but look at War World and wonder what the hell they were trying to do with that

I like shows like Andor which have a mildly interesting premise but rely on phenomenal writing and execution to really shine.

Viking_Hippie,

Why do Star Wars fans always forget the / in And/or?

Sigh_Bafanada,

Yeah I hesitantly tried out Andor as somebody who isnt the biggest Star Wars junkie, and it quickly flew to being my favourite Star Wars content by a mile. Really excellent writing imo

Mango, to lemmyshitpost in Damn freeloaders takin' all the jobs!

The quiet part is that people in a country with abundant natural resources don’t want to have to share them with people from other places with fucked up situations. They want a walled garden because they think they can tend it well enough on their own to not be surrounded by extra burden. Who needs to compete when there’s enough to go around here?

Mango,

If we were rational ourselves, we would bring our freedom to the countries who’s people are fleeing to us for refuge. Mexicans have it so bad that they’re running to us? Well clearly we’re doing it better than Mexico, so let’s clap their leadership and show them what’s good, right? I mean fuck. It’s better rationale for a war than trying to control some other place for is oil and pretending that’s not the case.

Kanda,

Are you trying to say there’s oil in Mexico and invading a sovereign state is justified if you think you run things better?

Mango,

Idk if there’s oil in Mexico. The point I’m trying to make is that we’re ‘liberating’ under false pretenses and not doing it where that would at least make a little bit of sense.

Fuck Texas Instruments. All my homies hate Texas Instruments

Seriously trying to charge $100 for a calculator running 50-year-old hardware (the ti-84’s CPU, the zilog z80 was created in 1976). Fucking ridiculous

AI_toothbrush,

But at the same time as a semiconductor manufacturer i really like them. They have high quality ics for literally everything. I think that they are so big that the different parts of the company dont even interact.

lemmyman,

TI USB controllers and switching supplies are half of my BOMs

Landless2029,

It’s also a racket because all the freaking textbooks used it so it because require to have that exact one at my school

AscendantSquid,

The textbooks all used it because TI made it that way, they pressured the education agencies to make it so.

protist,

But they seem to last forever, so there are a ton available in the aftermarket. My TI-89 from 1997 still works like new, and I plan to bequeath it to my son

PeterPoopshit, (edited )

But they make the z80 and they’re so proud of the shitty 8 bit processor they made 50 years ago so they’re forcing people to use it and pay modern prices for it. They eventually made an ez80 which is like the z80 but better in some ways and it sounds impressive but if you ever try to design a homebrew computer out of one, you’ll find that it’s not very worthwhile due to the lack of a external wait state insertion pin and if you want to build something better than a z80 or 6502 homebrew, there are better choices than an ez80.

EvokerKing,

Only the ti83-84 are shit. The old ti89 and newer ti nspire are actually really good. I bought a ti89 on eBay for $20 and even though it is 20 something years old it’s still better than there new ti84 color stuff.

user1234,

They may be expensive for what you get, but they’re built to last. Still using the TI-83 that I got in 1997 and it works as good as the day I got it.

Waraugh, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in Damn freeloaders takin' all the jobs!

The narrative of friends and family from the small town I grew up in and left, to rarely if ever revisit, reason that the immigrants work illegally for cash at meat packing plants, roofing, etc. This while drawing benefits, as unregistered/illegal immigrants. I don’t know how an undocumented person could collect benefits. Frankly I don’t know enough about any of it to say whether their narrative is accurate or not.

I have always held the opinion that even if their likely false narrative is true, those sound like extremely hard working folks being exploited and taken advantage of and points to an underlying problem that immigrants are not effectively integrated into our society through accessible legal procedures in a way that enables them to positively impact society to the greatest extent of their potential. I’d bet with living wages these folks would be filling up trade schools and all kinds of additional skilled labor roles that would be built upon and advanced generationally. I don’t understand why a country wouldn’t want injection of realized opportunity and advancement into its society, economics, and culture.

Death_Equity,

It is not uncommon for illegals to obtain someone else’s documents for use. $50 and you can have enough of someone’s information to claim benefits or get “lawful” employment.

Not everyone who does that uses that information to abuse the system, many don’t take benefits or get credit cards to abuse, most just use it to get a job that pays better than cash under the table. They do occasionally need to get new information, I don’t think I ever asked what caused the necessity to switch.

If you can, always set the title of whatever window you're working on to capital bold letters, preferably red, saying PRODUCTION SERVER - DON'T FUCK IT UP. This has saved my dumbass a few times when I looked up before hitting enter.

Covid is real and dangerous when they feel like justifying their racism.

Yet Covid “is no big deal” or even “is not real” like you say, as they threw one lazy selfish tantrum after another, refusing to mask up, abusing essential workers.
