I hear Arizona and Indiana in the U.S. have anti-Stone-Henge shields that they won’t share with anyone.

Indiana gave up its shield like 15 years ago.

Or just completely ignore them.

One of the reasons people do or say things to you is to get a reaction. When you deny them that reaction it drives them nuts. And if you deny them often enough, eventually they leave you alone.

Depends on the mood i’m in or the type of person they are. If they’re trolls, then yes. Ignore and carry on. But if they’re just a Karen type who is genuinely full of themselves? Fuck it. You wanna call me a dick? I shall fulfill the criteria.

The other tactic I employ is … delayed responses.

Sometimes people are just bored and have time on their hands and want to fire off stupid things to entertain themselves by making others jump around with them. If the response is immediate, they get their instant dopamine hit and it makes it fun for them. And the more responses you create, the more fun it becomes for them.

If you delay the response … they receive a reply when they’ve stopped thinking about it and it becomes inconvenient for them. A delayed response is also less of a dopamine hit for them because it came at the wrong time.

It’s not even that it’s completely different - text emojis are more expressive. Less is more. And I’m not arguing that you can’t use emoticons in more than one way to convey different emotions or intentions, but you just can’t use :D and 😀 in the same way. Where you can use :D to be anything from snide, trolling, taking the piss, happy, excited etc you need a whole lot more emoticons to cover all that the :D can cover.

“Why is-”

“I don’t know, it’s almost like the movie is intentionally setting up questions to be answered later when the plot calls for it!”
