Well, the Bell riots are in September 2024, perhaps this post is for the people who don’t live in the sanctuary districts and can afford to both lounge and acquire multiple sets of loungewear.
I’ve recently started wearing sports goggles for hockey as I can’t do contacts. I feel this one a lot. The fogging up and the constant sweating on the lens is never ending…
Working through some of that now but the sweating and then cleaning the sweat off is making it worse. Still need to figure out a system where cleaning them doesn’t invite the fogging after. I think if I never sweated on them I would be fine for fogging up.
Swamp Sight:
A creature with this feat may peer through dirty lenses and objects as if they had true sight and dark vision. If a smudge or other blemish obstructs view, the creature may see through it as if it were not there.
Shout out to my skinny guys: Girl clothes are cut for us, especially at the waist. Hoodies and jackets are the bomb. Try it. Wife about shit when I strapped on my new women’s jacket. “OH! SO sexy!”
Got plenty of casual clothes given to me by exes. That’s how I learned.
Buttons and zippers on the “wrong” side are a pain, still worth it.
(For context: I’m a middle-aged, white guy living in the South. No one so much as blinks.)
Just commented, nah, women do not like the kilt look, not any I’ve dated. I’m not so hot on them myself. One of those things that sounds like a good idea, doesn’t really work out. OTOH, very nice with leggings and combat boots. Warm!
Guys, if you want to try one, get a knock-off Utilikilt. Loads of pockets, manly looking (I think) without the formal pleated look. I never have a chance to wear the pleated one. :(
I wore a Utilikilt for a while. They’re surprisingly uncomfortable. Sitting in a kilt requires effort. The material is a heavy denim, which is hot and doesn’t fall nicely. I expected the breeze to be enjoyable. It’s not.
The women I’ve dated that are into men love guys in kilts, but I’m a woman so it may be that bi women are more likely to like it than straight women. That said I’ve heard complaints that some guys don’t bother with ensuring it’s a good kilt for them and picking a good outfit with it
i think my hero academia sorta does this? i know the protag at least has to concentrate and think in a certain way to manage to pull fancy moves off before he internalizes the activation and can really do it at will, and i think other characters have similar challenges?
“so clench your buttcheeks kid, and yell this from the depth of your heart: SMASH!”
Christmas lights, if made correctly, should have a fuse. These cords aren’t made to handle the full 20A the breaker can. They usually cap somewhere around 3A. Nothing is stopping you from plugging a two prong 12A vacuum cleaner into them. So if you actually tried that, you’d blow the fuse in your lights before you tripped the breaker.
This is how 16 gauge extension cords should be made, too. Unfortunately, they aren’t, and people light those up all the time.
Either that, or here goes Amazon, once again not vetting the shit they sell, and selling average intelligence people fire hazards.
Actually, many houses are built this way. My house has 15A receptacles on 20A circuits. I don’t agree with it. The breaker should always be the weakest point. But the NEC (section 210.21) allows you to put 15A receptacles on 20A circuits as long as you use a duplex receptacle OR there are multiple simplex receptacles on the circuit.
This kind of thing is why code requires washing machines to have their own dedicated circuits, but you always find a duplex receptacle where the washing machine goes. It’s not for your convenience. It’s the most cost-effective way to pass code.
As long as the wiring is good for 20A it's fine. Also if you break open a 15A recepticle a lot of them have the 20A contacts in there as well since it's the same unit just with a different face.
Also, trying to tie a breaker in the closed (on) position like that won’t stop it from tripping. It’ll just make it more difficult to reset.
When tripped, the internal electrical part detaches from the lever mechanism and switches to the off position. The lever will then normally be ether free floating or spring to the middle (between on and off) until it is moved to the off position. Moving it to the off position will reattach the lever mechanism to the electrical part, which then allows it to be turned back on.
Also, I think the lights would be perfectly happy being plugged in like that because they are LEDs. I don’t know how many it would take stacked like that before you would have trouble, but I feel like it would be a lot more.
I was comparing lights two weeks ago. The sets I was looking at had 150 bulbs. The manufacturer recommended a max of 4 incandescent strings in series. For led it was 30 in series. Led only draws around 7 watts each.
Yeah and 7watts at 120 volts is only around 60mA. To get to a standard home circuit’s 15 amps (15,000mA) would take 250 LED strings. There may be some inrush current, but not of there are resistors in the led sets (every set I own has em).
Personally I just do it because I’ve been burned by modern streaming too often: Find an interesting new show, watch the first season or two. The show picks up steam, people like it and the actors ask for more money on renewal. Streaming site drops the show and makes something else with cheaper actors, interesting story goes unfinished.
Well yes, but I’m referring to present day with it being winter. In the summer it easily gets past +30c here. Last summer I would have gladly run around nekkid when it was +36c if I wouldn’t get arrested.
Wore women’s camo leggings with an olive-drab utili-kilt. Damn that was comfortable. But wearing a kilt in the woods and the heat? Just didn’t feel right to me, and I’ve tried a couple of different kinds.
Depends on which part of Canada you’re in but where I am? It’s been above freezing for the past couple days and will likely stay that way. In Summer it’ll get 33c or higher (91.4f for the Americans). Where I’m from originally it would work even better because the summers get that hot but also absurdly humid. Like 95% humidity.
The mods here on lemmy.world needs to start taking stock of the fact that they give far, far too much leeway to the hasbara flooding this place with their pro-genocide bullcrap.
edit: It’s not the meme, nutburgers - it’s the comments.
I’m generally concerned that people on each side of the political spectrum seem to lack any respect for the other side. It is bad for democracy and is bad for freedom.
I keep seeing comments littered across lemmy but do you know what I don’t see? Reports. So many people complaining about lack of moderation and absolutely no one is helping with that. You are included in that. How do I know that? Because Lemmy mods are able to see who makes the reports. There are none from this thread in general (outside of a couple of people using the report as a complaint button) but also zero reports from you specifically.
If you want active moderation then I might suggest actually bothering to call us. We’re not omniscient and omnipresent. We need to be notified. Stop trying to blame moderators here when you are just as fault. We have other shit to do. If you see something, say something. You don’t get to complain about mods not removing the comments when you’ve been supposedly seeing them and not lifting a single finger to point it out.
Edit: This is priceless. I’m looking through the comments and yeah, there are a couple to be removed for sure. But the funny thing is that most of the comments I’m seeing that need to be removed are yours. You have been acting wildly uncivil throughout this thread. There are a couple other comments that need to be removed but no single user in this thread has more problematic comments than you. Now I see why you didn’t report anything.
Political interference and regime change isn’t exactly designed to strike fear into anyone in particular, it was all about power projection and creating perceived buffers against the spread of communism. Not sure how any of that falls under the definition of terrorism
Riiiiight… the death squads terrorized no-one - all the torture, rape and murder was performed in a civilized manner. Just like the massive and indiscriminate bombings!
Yeah but the CIA didn’t do any of those things, the military did the bombings and the death squads were funded but not operated by the CIA. Sponsor of terrorism? Sure, I can see that a argument. Terrorist organization though is just an incorrect label imo.
