I went into it expecting it to have nothing to do with the books. I found all the characters’ behaviors irrational and frustrating, with the exception of the emperor.
And I’m getting really sick of incompetent protagonists and impossibly flawless antagonists. I think that’s just a reflection of the zeitgeist of the world’s masses, but that’s another discussion. Suffice to say I’m tired of it being the only trope used in SciFi TV anymore.
My conspiracy theory is that the writers had an idea for their own show, but execs made them slap on the Foundation label for notoriety. Because the parts that aren’t in the books, like the Genetic Dynasty, are great – probably the best parts. It feels like that was the actual story here, then everything else had to be put in after the fact to justify the universe they put it in.
I stopped watching after season 1 because the “special powers held by individuals” angle felt like a slap in the face to the theme of the books. Apparently season 2 is better but I’m still a lil bitter so I don’t think I can do it lol
This is brilliant, and it would explain so much! And I agree that the most interesting story arch is the one that has nothing to do with the novels (and the entire show shared very little with the novels, outside of some names).
I said that I liked few of the characters; I don’t know if that improves after the first season, but like you, I’m traumatized enough by S1 to be uninterested in watcing S2. I realized I’d spent the last 3 episodes literally shouting at the TV because of characters being so unreasonably stupid, and if there’s a literary sin I can’t forgive it’s characters doing stupid things as a plot device. “We need tension in this scene, so we’ll have this character refuse to get in the escape pod until the last minute, for some trivial reason.” It is infuriating, sloppy, weak writing, and I refuse to watch it.
True in the U.S. Except, of course, in Alaska. Somehow in Alaska, very red state Alaska, home to Sarah Palin, every state resident gets a dividend from the oil revenue. Not that I approve of the reason why considering no one should be making revenue by fossil fuels, but somehow Republicans are fine with that exception. I wish they were pressed on it occasionally.
That’s the point. It’s entitlement when poor people do it. It’s “the fair share that they deserve” when they do it. If conservatives didn’t have double standards they wouldn’t have standards at all.
Conservatives love telling people that winning or losing is a personal failure, and hate government interference, but also love to make life as easy as possible for large corps.
They clearly understand that regulation works, and that governments working to stabilize a country can be really powerful, and then they go and do entirely the wrong shit about while swearing that regulation is evil and governments are evil. It’s all just feelings and whatever they hear first/whatever is oversimplified and yelled.
Akschually filming it vertically is not good because we can’t insert subway surfers gameplay under the movie. It should be filmed like a small rectangle
At first I thought it was just a method to avoid copyright detection. It may have started as that but the 22yr old I live with says it gives people something else to do while watching the movie so they don’t get bored.
Ive seen that many adds for idiotic games where the stupid fuck in the add is obviously just playing the game poorly and I KNOW its a tactic to get me to prove how smaht I am by getting the game and doing better than the shitstick in the video. I KNOW its a manipulation tactic.
There’s a subset of those that end up actually being SUPER CREEPY. Ya know the ones where there’s, like, a pack of Albert Einsteins or Socrateses (Socratepedes???) all chanting and waving their arms? And saying some weird shit like “ONLY LEFT BRAINED PEOPLE CAN BEAT THIS LEVEL” or whatever wack-ass shit, like that?
That shit is somehow, like, actual nightmare fuel for me. It’s just too surreal and weirdly threatening. Makes me want to just not look at it, instantly.
Vinny from Vinesauce on twitch will often play the most horrible mobile games/ads on Sunday streams and him and chat are always just absolutely shitting on them. It’s a great laugh, I highly recommend.
Reality is even worse than the worst thing you can imagine. You know all those games you’ve seen hundreds of ads for and do do a pretty shitty job at making the game itself feel interesting?
Well that game content shown in the ads is actually the best part of those games. The actual game has nothing to do with what’s shown in the ad, but if you keep playing the super boring game, from time to time you get a chance to play a mini game inside of it which is still pretty boring but miles ahead of the rest of the game. Those mini games are what is shown in the ads.
I don’t know how those games afford so many ads. Who is even playing them. I can only imagine some people actually play it just for fear of missing out because the constant ads for those games make the game itself appear popular.
Yeah but not “30% of his income for the rest of his life” evil, even more so since I think he wasn’t even a dev on the project but just a web master for their site.
I did as close to that as I could, going to community then transferring to a 4 year. The problem is deeper than people wanting extra stuff, part of the problem is that nobody respects community college degrees, and they’re usually 2 year programs.
Definitely. I started out at a private 4 year, then transferred to the community college back home. I always heard the school had a shaky reputation, but my experience here has been a thousand times better than the private university. (Not to say it’s for everyone, but it’s absolutely a better fit for me). But if I do decide to go for a BA, it’ll have to be at another school, cause they don’t offer any here.
Yeah, it was more or less the same experience for me. My community college was the same quality teaching (and in some aspects it was better). Which just makes it infuriating that 4 year community college programs aren’t really an option.
